    Legendary Item Drop Survey Results

I've had a quick look at this thread and, as someone with a background on statistics, I am somewhat skeptical that the approach suggested can yield meaningful results. Here's how I would do it: 1. At the start of your favorite run, check your monster kill count. 2. Do the run and for each leg...

    Keyrun Probabilities

phaedrus, long losing steaks are extremely common. That is especially true with distributions with a high variability, like the one at stake in keydrops. (Incidently, it is also why chances are you'll go bankrupt if you keep trying "double or nothing" at the casino rollette...) People have a...

D3 itemization is not addictive enough

Well, I'm all for good items, but I hope they don't overdo it as they did in Diablo 2. Those top runewords were WAY beyond broke. Might as well have a button to turn on "god mode".

    Can't Get Past Belial

Belial was my first mass-death place lol. It took me some time learning to dodge the green pools, but after you get the hang of it, it's easier. At some stage he starts spamming those pools and you just have to keep running to side-step them. After they're gone, you can go back to hack and slash.

    Digging the Wizard

I played a softcore wizzo throughout normal and I can tell you I died dozens of times at bosses. Some of them were due to lack of experience, but others were just unavoidable. And the close calls... countless. Oh well, good luck :)

Thoughts after my first HC character's death

I only play softcore, but I hear ya. Just killed Diablo on normal and boy.. you guys at hardcore must sure have a tough time at this game. There are so many dangers, surprises and scares out there I wouldn't dream of trying hardcore. By the way, I did play a hardcore character back in D2...

FPS issues sometimes dropping to 0

Re: FPS issues sometimes dropping to 0 The bloody game fried my graphs card. It overheated and burned out LOL. Anyway, the random FPS slowdown is not a graphs card issue because some people at battle.net foruns tried changing cards and it didn't work for them. I'm hoping it works for me...

    Post your D3 system specs.

Re: Post your D3 system specs. Mine probably beats the record for 'crankiest rig ever': Intel dualcore 8400 2.4 GHz Geforce 8600 GT 2 Gb ram Runs just fine on low details, except for some fps hiccups which apparently have more to do with programming bugs than client-side hardware.

FPS issues sometimes dropping to 0

Re: FPS issues sometimes dropping to 0 I'm having these hiccups too. I have a 2008 desktop, but it's plenty enough to run the game (2 Gb ram, geforce 8600 GT). I lowered all graphical details to a min and put it on 1280x768 fullscreen. Most of the time it runs ok, but every 3 mins or so game...

    Capped at 30 FPS?

I can't help you on the technical issue, but I can tell you your eyes/mind are capped at around 25 fps (due to a thing called 'retinual persistance'). You won't notice much of a difference between 25, 30, 50 or higher framerate. So relax. The game is equally enjoyable at 30 or 50+.

    Keep cool or cash in?

Re: Keep cool or cash in? The Diablo economy has a linear supply of items, so their value will tend to drop in time. The marginal value is probably logarithmic, meaning it gets harder and harder to get better stuff, though it will eventually be found (and later superseeded). This hints at...

    JOB OPENING: D3 item farmer

Re: JOB OPENING: D3 item farmer Thx guys. It does show I haven't played much :) From a economical-theoretical view point, the RMAH has a lot of potential. We might be witnessing a revolution in gaming funding. The idea is not new, but it's (I think) the first time the software company itself...

Just my catch on the game

Re: Just my catch on the game Yeah yeah, I know everybody likes to maul and smash through legions of enemies. But I would really enjoy if D3 has stuff like the ancients of D2. I used to go up there and fight them over and over with underpowered builds just for fun :)

Just my catch on the game

Just my catch on the game Hi all, Just dig up half an hour to have a look at how the Diablo scene is brewing. I used to play a lot, but lately haven't had time to play D2 (let alone the D3 beta lol). Yesterday I had a look at the official videos and some youtube beta walkthroughs. Here's my...

    JOB OPENING: D3 item farmer

JOB OPENING: D3 item farmer I just heard the news about RMAH. (yeah, I haven't been playing much.. actually, nothing at all.. lol) So Blizzo has finally realized the power of the Dark Side!!!! Ahhhhh... shhhh [Vader deep breath] Anyway, if we skip the fact people might start confusing real...

A few general questions (Need a Classic expert!)

Re: A few general questions (Need a Classic expert!) 1. Any AR set is good. One is usually enough, but you can use the three together until you reach a good level (dual angelics, sigon helm/glove, hsaru boot/belt). 2. It adds some damage, but not as much as the add claims. Basically, the...

Question about 3 chipped + sword cube formula in 1.09 ifra

Re: Question about 3 chipped + sword cube formula in 1.09 The 'ferocious' modifier doesn't exist on classic. The item level of the chipped recipe is, I think, 25 which is too low for an exec too spawn the next best mod, which is 'kings'. You'd have to check the ilvl and qlvl formulas, but...

#1 Bec-De-Corbin in US West Ladder(?)

Re: #1 Bec-De-Corbin in US West Ladder(?) Martel also has a higher multiplier to +STR damage: 1.1, as compared to 1.0 for non-hammer class weapons. Martels > all, unfortunately.

Are CL sorcs viable in Classic?

Re: Are CL sorcs viable in Classic? You can make it work fine with CL/orb. Will be slower, but you won't be swearing at the monitor from frustration vs immunes :) The most relaxed play is hydra/orb, though. Just lean back and let the pets do the work.
