Blizzard have secured themselves another trademark recently, on the name Overwatch. The only details are the registration details, as listed below, but as far as what the game or product could be there are no hints.

Blizzard has posted a sexy splash screen in a subheading on their Diablo 3 Battle.net page. It’s not linked from the main page and it doesn’t link to anything else, but it’s pretty and fans are furiously rumoring that this is the Diablo 3 Expansion preview and title. More details coming very soon from Gamescom?

In his farewell post Jay Wilson said that he was moving to another project inside of Blizzard. Most of us assumed he’d be working on Titan (or something else more secret), but also assumed he’d be a team lead or developer of some sort, but that he would *not* be a Game Director again. I thought that Jay wouldn’t want the constant publicity and PR headaches, and that Blizzard wouldn’t want him to be the public face of another game after the decidedly rocky first year of Diablo 3.

It seems that just this week Blizzard have projectblackstone.com the domain projectblackstone.com. It currently doesn’t resolve but it’s only been alive a couple of days so it is still early days. We can’t tell from that what the title is but they often have code names for things they are working on. Project Titan for the ongoing MMO and Diablo 3 was nicknamed Hydra – actually in retrospect that one is more obvious.

In a Q&A session at Gamescom, Diablo III designer Josh Mosqueira said they are “very, very serious” about bringing Diablo III to a console platform. They won’t say which one they’re developing for, though past job openings on the Diablo III team for PlayStation 3 specialists might be something of a hint. A quote from the Kotaku write-up.

A rumor-tastic post on GameFront quotes “an industry insider” who attended the recent press-only show of the single player campaign of the Starcraft 2 expansion pack, Heart of the Swarm. (Yes, the game is called SC2:HotS. Today’s lesson: always check the acronym before you register a multi-word title, kids.) The article has some tidbits about the SC2 expansion, but the part I found interesting was his bold predictions of a Starcraft MMO.

Late last week, speaking to Destructoid at the Spike TV Video Game Awards show, Blizzard’s Senior Vice President Frank Pearce confirmed that “Titan” was the code name for their upcoming Next-Gen MMO.

Much debate today about this image, originally posted on a Chinese MMO site, purportedly from a Blizzard internal document. It shows their projected game and other project release dates for the next several years. We’re fairly skeptical about the provenance of this, but take a look and see what you think. There’s already an, with most people taking an, “I’m skeptical, but it’s good enough to want to believe in just so I can discuss it.”

As we all know, Blizzard are working on anand some have speculated that it could be Diablo related even though Blizzard have stated it is a new IP. However, in last night’s Blizzard quarterly conference call Mike Morhaime was specifically asked about the new MMO and he said that the unannounced MMORPG in development was “not a direct sequel to World of Warcraft”. His response to the question may have been a simple phrasing error but it’s interesting nevertheless. With StarWars: The Old Republic taking the StarWars story back in time could Blizzard be working along the same lines with the Warcraft Universe? We’ll keep you posted if anything else emerges about the new game. Thanks IncGamers.
