Phenix, one of the winners from our Blizzcon tickets contest wrote up a nice piece on you experience at the show and his play time on the Reaper of Souls demo. Here’s an excerpt and you can read the whole thing in his forum post. Be warned, I didn’t quote it here, but in the forum post there’s a spoiler about one of the funny/new/returning monster types you’ll see in some Nephalem Rift levels.

Regular Diablo 3 Podcast guest Wolfpaq attended Blizzcon this year, and while I wasn’t able to meet up with him to get his quick reaction on Day One, he wrote up a beefy article detailing his impressions of the Reaper of Souls demo. It covers the Crusader and his skills, Adventure Mode and Nephalem Rifts, general gameplay impressions, and has a big list of descriptions of the legendary items he found.

Diablo3.Gamona has posted a hand-on report based on play time of the Diablo 3 demo at Gamescom. It’s fairly short (wish I’d been there) but does give some insight into the tone and mood of Westmarch, the Crusader, and changes in Loot 2.0. Blizzard gave the Penny Arcade guys a chance to try out the Diablo 3 console in a group, couch-rules style, and they’ve posted their exploits in a two-hour video of game footage and couch cam video to show their reactions. They don’t have much experience with Diablo 3 so it’s not a real representative vision of what it would be like for any of us to play the Diablo 3 console, but it’s a fairly entertaining presentation.

With the open beta weekend giving thousands of long time Diablo players their first chance at Diablo III, our Diablo 3 Community Forum and Diablo 3 Beta Forum are blowing up with conversation and debate, with numerous first impressions type posts. Quoting them all would make for a very long post and defeat the purpose of the forum posts, most of which have many-page reply threads going on, but I wanted to excerpt a few as I read them and took the mood of the community.

Here’s another hands on report from a new tester in the Diablo 3 Beta. This one is by Penncrow, a self-described “long time Diablo player.” He’s a fan of most things in Diablo III, with only the tooltips he says are written for, “idiots that just got off the short bus.” standing out as a strong negative in his judgment.

Here’s another hands on report from a new tester in the Diablo 3 Beta. This one is from noted D3 fan artist Softshack, and his report came in two parts; a short and skeptical one written after fifteen unsatisfying minutes (the pop-up deluge of idiot-friendly tooltip windows was his main complaint), and then a much more positive report written after he’d gotten in dozen more hours of “testing.”
