Diablo 3 Beta Gameplay #22: Mega Massacre Bonus

When we posted the last big massacre bonus video, in which HunterSC took down 368 undead in the Weeping Hollow, I had no hesitation predicting that someone would soon take 500+ in that same area. It seemed inevitable; there were several sources for lots and lots of zombies in that area, and with enough advance prep/herding, almost infinite amounts of the creatures could be assembled.

Daily Diablo 3 Beta Gameplay #7

Two videos today, both with full beta play-throughs over an hour in length. The first is a very HQ movie from MrTidus, and it takes a brand new female Wizard through the entire demo, from start to finish. The guy driving the Wizard has clearly done the beta numerous times by now, as he knows where everything is, but it’s not a totally rushed playthrough, and he pokes into several of the sub-dungeons that I’ve hardly seen anyone enter in other movies.

All Hail the Skeleton… Queen?

Like many of the other Blizzard artists, Oliver Chipping maintains a blog on which he posts some of his finished work, but mostly sketches, WiP pieces, personal art, and more. Though he works with the Diablo III team, Oliver hadn’t previously posted any Diablo III art, other than mentioning that he’d contributed level art to the Skeleton King’s Throne Room, as seen in the WWI 2008 gameplay demo/movie.

Blue on “Macro” and Diablo III’s Combat

A couple of weeks ago Bashiok dropped two days worth of some forum talk about a major way Diablo III’s combat mechanics will vary from Diablo II’s: defense is now treated like a resistance, in that it lowers the damage your character takes, rather than causing melee hits to miss you entirely (or not). By their current plan, 95% of melee hits (with some special exceptions) will land, hence you’ll want good defense to mitigate the damage.
