Diablo 3 Blizzcon Screenshots: Improved Crafting and Console UI

Tons of new screenshots in the press kit this year, so many that we’re breaking them up into several posts. First up here are a bunch of shots showing off how Seasons and the new UI will look on the Console. Plus some shots showing an improved inventory with crafting materials integrated right into the interface. No more stacks to juggle!?

Diablo 3’s Damage Display Detailed

Blizzard posted a blog describing the design decisions behind the revamp of the damage display numbers we see now in Patch 2.4 and Season Five. It’s a nice article with explanation and technical detail about how the changes work… and it even gets into the issues with showing larger numbers and commas vs. periods between digits. Remember the months of controversy over, “Why can’t we see commas in the Auction House prices?”

Stash for Cash… Diablo 3’s Storage Crisis

Pretty much everyone who plays Diablo 3 has been asking for more storage space since about June 2012, and the lack of stash space has only become more acute in recent months, with many more useful legendary and set items added to the game. Fans request more stash space in every conversation with the devs, and we always get refused with fairly weak arguments. Here’s what Josh Mosqueira said about it from a Q&A panel at Blizzcon 2014:

No Crafting Materials Interface Under Development

In the months ago, fan requests for auto-pickup of crafting materials and a better interface received some Blue replies suggesting that they might integrate crafting materials into the UI and make them account-wide, much as Gold and Blood Shards are. Since then we’ve received a semi-auto-pickup system in Patch 2.2, and according to a blue post today, their plans for UI storage of crafting mats have been shelved.

RoS: DLC for QoL?

We talk about Quality of Life changes all the time (and even get them, sometimes) and speculate about DLC features (and never get them), so today in clan chat the topic turned to what sort of QoL you’d pay for. Obviously the usual choices are more stash space and character slots, and a lot of you guys have previously approved paying “plat” for those options. (Hypothetically, of course, as we’re not playing in China.)
