Season Seven Ending, and Eras Growing Longer

A couple of pieces of big news about Diablo 3 today. First up, Season Seven is ending, and much sooner than most of us expected. The season will end in two weeks, on October 14th. S7 began on August 5th, not even two months ago, so this one will end 2-3 weeks earlier than any previous D3 season. With no patch in testing on the PTR it’s obvious we won’t see many changes in Season 8, so it’s not clear why this one is getting such a quick reset, when most fans expected the next season to begin somewhen around Blizzcon, in early November.

Blizzard’s Official Patch 2.4 Preview

Blizzard has posted the promised Patch 2.4 preview, which they said (during the Blizzcon panel) would be live for testing on the PTR next week. There’s a ton of new stuff, including revamped item sets, dozens of new legendary items, new stash space earned via the Season Journey, new tilesets and dungeons, tons of new bounties, and much more.

Blizzard on Enraged Phantoms/Ghosts

Lately, my play time has been pretty heavy. I’ve been fortunate and free enough to put in enough time to push me into gr 60+ seasonal so far, and I’ve finally hit what I like to call the seatbelt. There have always been seatbelts on us when grifting. They are mechanics placed in the game as limiters. Something that practice can’t overcome. In previous seasons it was the elite affix thunderstorm or jailer. Instant, unavoidable damage. Regardless of player skill, this was your gear check. It has always been the limiting factor when topping out on the high end. Sure monster damage and health scaling also control our destiny at the higher difficulty level, but most damage is avoidable if you can dodge it. These were our seatbelts.
