The first Diablo 3 Season starts today

A quick reminder that it’s Friday which can only mean one thing, the first Season kicks off. In case you still need any clarification on how the Seasons work, there’s an extensive article up in the wiki charting everything we know and you need to know.

Here’s the times again in case you need reminding.

To ensure the roll-out process goes as smoothly as possible for all players, we’re planning both a delayed and staggered release, with different gameplay regions launching the season at different times.

For reference, below are the current launch times for Season 1:

Asia: 9:00 a.m. PDT (August 30 at 1:00 a.m. KST, UTC +9)
Europe: 12:00 p.m. PDT (9:00 p.m. CEST, UTC +2)
Americas: 6:00 p.m. PDT (UTC -7)

  1. Thanks for screwing the East coast Blizzard. I get 2-3 hours if i'm lucky the east coast can get 6+. Blah.

  2. No extra character slots means no seasons for me.

  3. Sad that I won't be there at the starting line, but I'm sure I'll be starting up my HC DH for Season One tomorrow morning. Have they said whether or not we have to use our current character slots? It sounded like only the exp, gold, etc. is transferred at the end, so it would make sense to give us a fresh 10 spots for the Season.

    • No, it’s pretty much the opposite of what you think – you get no new slots, but that’s because your character becomes a non-season character when it’s over. All the exp, stashed items, and gold do transfer as well, though.

I would desperately love way more slots (WoW gives you 50…), but it’s not happening this season.

  4. So, they’re saying that they’re planning for the servers to lag incredibly beginning at 18:00 PDT?

  5. No valid reason to re-grind 300 paragon levels no seasons for me.

  6. lvl 56 wd, going to sleep now since i'm not at home, more in the course of tomorrow/today.

  7. Somebody is already 70. They did it in ~75 minutes.

  8. I am not doing seasons, but I am also glad that so many people seem to be excited about them. Good luck guys.

  9. Just woke up and saw level 70 conquest was finished withing 5 hours of season launching and people are even steamrolling Torment VI, since they are getting torment VI conqeusts now. And if you look carefully, you will see it is all the same clans and people.

So in short, seasons are not worth it for people with life.

    • What did you expect? Leaderboards are for people who have the time and are willing to take competitions seriously. Now that their efforts will be more widely recognized you can bet that they will put maximum effort into competing. Competitions are always for the most dedicated people in any given community.
