The Dark Library #40: The Other Side of Despair

Welcome friends to the latest installment of The Dark Library. This week we have a few more pieces of fiction from the halls of this great library. Without further interruption let?s begin.

We start off this very warm summer morning with the Stone of Contention by DiabloWiki0xDEADCAFE and Part 2: A Case of Pretty Theft.

Swaglord did not have to wait long to find out who or what had attacked him. The face of a young woman soon appeared above him, followed immediately by a suitable neck and shoulders. They hovered over him for moment and then seemed to swoop down on him. He felt a sudden weight on his chest and realized she must be sitting on him.

Next up this morning is Chapter 5 of Fulcrum by DiabloWikiAnyee.

The path led through a break in the walls surrounding the plain. I found myself gazing onto what must have been, until recently, lush farmland. Thick grass grew all around us, barely covering the thousands of rocks and boulders littering the ground for as far as the eye could see. In the distance, I saw several small huts, two of which were engulfed in flames and teeming with demons. ‘What happened here?’ I asked Paige, leaning for a moment on one of the walls to rub my aching shoulder.

Lastly this morning before all is said and done; is Chapter 23: The Other Side of Despair from the book The Key by DiabloWikiTamrend.

“Steady,” Alain barked, holding up one hand. “Bows to ready, take aim and hold.”

Shael notched an arrow and waited while the crossbowmen labored to load their weapons. Facing them across the broken terrain, the goatmen fanned out and moved forward, making room for those behind. Slayers began to join them, hunched beetle-like in their armor, and then the towering figures of maulers. Last came the clan lords, roaring words of command in the harsh demon tongue.

Next week we will bring you more from the fan fiction community in the same conveniently posted bite-size format as well as some works from fan monster and fan class creators. If you have made fan fiction that has not yet been posted in the Diablo fan fiction forum, or just got inspired to do so, head over there and post your material, or ask questions to other fan writers regarding lore, writing style or other input. See you next week!
