RMAH is Live for Americas

Update: An official blog has been posted regarding the official launch of the service for the Americas. The fulls transcript is below the fold. The blog also reiterates points that were posted yesterday.

With the maintenance comes the introduction of the RMAH. When you first log in, many are reporting a grayed-out auction button. This is an intended side-effect of server load. There are current issues with the amount of use the RMAH is getting, and Blizzard is throttling access to reduce the strain. Some regions may not have been activated yet, but US RMAH is a go.

As if to put the nail in the coffin of yesterday’s hoax, the arrival of the RMAH after the first major wave of bans indicates the company’s confidence in the service.

Best of luck to all of you Diablontrepreneurs in America and don’t forget to check out the valuations forum if you are unsure of any prices.

Grayed-Out Auction House Button

To help reduce load and improve the overall stability of the auction house system, the game may temporarily limit traffic to the auction house during peak gaming hours. This is done automatically, and players may occasionally see a grayed-out auction house button as a result.

If the auction house button is grayed-out, please wait a few minutes and then try again. Alternatively, you may wish to enter a game and then leave, or log out and log back in to try again.

“Missing” Auction Items

We’re continuing to investigate latency affecting search results, active auction lists, posting auctions, and successful sales and purchases on the gold auction house, and hope to have all transactions running smoothly as soon as possible. Please note that while these issues may cause a temporary delay in having purchased items appear in your Completed tab, your items have not been lost. If you do not see your purchased items immediately, please wait and try again later. This also applies if you are experiencing difficulty transferring gold from your Completed tab to your character’s stash. Though your sales and purchases may not appear in your auction log, those transactions have still been recorded and should process within 24 hours.

Auction House Error 31073

Players will sometimes receive “Error 31073” when attempting a transaction on the auction house. This is an intentional measure to help improve auction house stability by throttling the number of auctions that can be created at any given time. If you receive this error message when attempting a transaction you should wait a few moments and try again. While we understand this is an inconvenience, our goal is to ensure a more stable auction house experience for everyone.

The Diablo® III real-money auction house is now available in the Americas game region for the U.S. dollar, Australian dollar, and Mexican peso. With the real-money auction house, players will be able to buy and sell the loot they find in the game using actual currency via approved third-party payment services or using their Battle.net® Balance.

The real-money auction house for the Europe game region and the remaining Americas game region currencies (Chilean peso, Argentine peso, and Brazilian real) will launch in the near future. We are rolling out elements of the real-money auction house separately to ensure all of our players have the smoothest possible experience. We’ll have more information on the availability of the European real-money auction house and the remaining Americas currencies soon

To access the real-money auction house, click on the “Auction House” button on the left-hand side of the campaign screen, and then on the button showing your region’s currency in the upper right-hand corner of the auction house interface. This will switch you between the gold- and real-money auction houses. Latin American players will have access to trade using the United States dollar, Australia dollar and Mexican peso.

  1. Cmon, keep telling if u see more items sold for over 100$! It’s so beautiful to read!

  2. i sold a crap set item for 26 bucks lol. put it on as a what the hell kind of thing and it sold. not sure what the hell i will do with 25 bucks. can i put it towards xpac?

  3. while i already sold my diablo3 on ebay some days ago, i still love coming here to lol hard about this game 😀 😀 😀 😀

  4. Oooh, this seems to have come with it’s own anti-botting feature – there is now a game limit? People on the main forums are crying about “Input Limit Reached” if you join games too often.

  5. Looks like there are no commodities yet. Is that true for others?

Also say I get money and I’m ready to cash out. Do I cash out to paypal? And then what? Will Paypal mail me a cheque? I wonder how many fees there are? I’m going to bet: 1. listing fee 2. cash out fee 3. Paypal depositing money to your account or sending a cheque fee.

    • Commodities are not enabled yet. It’s intentional and was announced in advance. The fees are all listed in the game interface when you put an item up for sale. It’s $1 plus 15%. Whatever you get after these fees ends up in your Paypal account. What you do with it afterwards is your business.

  6. Classic. A Legendary belt that was listed at first for around $100, is already down to like $1.50 for a bunch more.. Get ready for farmer invasion and driving all the prices down to a worthless amount.

    • Exactly. Pretty soon, all the farmers, bots, etc will be it down to where it’s not even worth listing items anymore.

    • Theres 2 reasons it crashed in price that because everyone in the know, wont buy them unless they are dirt cheap. Legendarys are **** compared to rares in 90% of cases. Also Legendary upgrade in patch 1.03 is coming soon tm.

  7. And this was how the (diablo) world ended. Not with a bang but with a dollar (AH)

  8. In addition to the farmers, bots, etc. the economy will just become further saturated with gold and items. Really curious to see what it’s like a month, six months, or a year down the road.

  9. Was excited about RMAH until I found out about SMS protect. Don’t have a phone that supports it. Guess I won’t be making any money from D3.

      • Also getting a job could lead you to buying a phone from capable of the SMS protection feature 🙂

        • I gave up my job to look after my kids. Not about to change that for the sake of making a few bob out of a video game in my free time – though it would have been nice to have the option.

  10. You people are the equivalent of a 90 year old grandma who has never used the internet.

  11. …..and the prices are crazy. I had to look, I couldn’t help myself. After checking the gold auction house for some better boots, I checked what Tals armor was going for and it ranged from 2$ to 200$.

  12. RMAH seems inundated with cheap items now that aren’t selling. Congrats to the people who managed to make a quick sale.

  13. Decent stat Stormshields are being sold at cap ($250) and are actually getting bought. Some people are making huge dough right now.

  14. I really don’t understand why Blizzard needs a RMHA for Diablo III. I think GW2 microntrasaction solution (using “gems”) is much more clever and should go against professional farmers. Diablo 3 seems a perfect target for a storm.

Anyway, I’m curious to see what will happen.

    • Oh look another one of those GW2 viral marketeers.

Yeah it really sucks to be paying for a game that is on line 3 days per month …

And no GW2 won’t cure cancer either.

      • “Yeah it really sucks to be paying for a game that is on line 3 days per month …”

I know right? Who in the right mind would buy Diablo 3!

  15. im laughing so hard at the rings with vitality, intel and +all resist being from $25 to $250 lmaooooo good luck selling that shit when the bots/farmers come in and start selling them for $1.50

  16. Who cares if RMAH is up, the servers are down now and before that they were hardly playable due to lag. This game was a failure.

    • Servers sucked at launch and granted they still have there problems, but I’m playing on a very very low end system and I’m not having too much trouble/lag. Any game that sells so many units so quick is not a failure, even if it doesn’t quite live up to everyones expectations.

  17. Just to try some constructive criticism i would like to say ‘FxxK YOU’ to anybody that ever uses the RMAH. ‘FxxK YOU very much’.

    • I’ve never been more motivated to use the RMAH than I am now that I’ve read your stunning rebuttal. You contribute much class to the playerbase. Keep on winning.

      • The thing is, I could give you a well articulated argument and you would still use your money in the auction house. What Blizzard is doing is bringing to the gaming enviroment all sorts of wordly imbalances, economic ones mainly. And I dont like being remembered in my gaming experience of the unfortunate inequalities of the capitalist world. I’m not saying anything new here, just look at all sorts of Occupy movements throughout the US and other countries in the world. It really would take a SOB yuppie to fXXk a much antecipated game in the arse. And i mean the yuppies that designed it to be like that and of course the yuppies that play it and enjoying bringing money into the experience just to enpower themselves.

  18. it says people who purchased the digital copy can’t use RMAH for 3 more days, whats the deal with that? I’ve been playing since, well hours after when I could finally get in. Amazing how the people who they made more money off of purchasing the game since they didnt have to make or ship any actual product seem to be getting shit on for now reason. I guess its not really a big deal but I just don’t understand why. Should of jus bought a box copy I guess since its not like I got on any earlier with the digital and I paid the same price so why make them extra money when they’re gonna lock us out for no reason.

  19. RMAH live at the same time as they limit how many games you can create in a certain amount of time, coincidence or planned for more AH action?

    • One has to wonder how this limit was not in release 1.0. A decade of ceaseless botting in D2 apparently failed to inform the design of D3 in any way.

You don’t need a conspiracy theory to explain the arrival of this change, but you do almost need one to explain the lateness of its arrival.

  20. Hm, could you bank and convert currency as a hedge against say fluctuations in Argentinian currency?

  21. So the maintenance for Europe has finished and the RMAH is pushed back again. Expected release the 15th. Thanks Blizzard.

    • I’m a bit miffed as well. I have some wicked Lacuni Prowlers I want to liquify as soon as possible.

  22. You guys are the saddest bunch of crybabies I’ve ever seen. Seriously, it’s pathetic.

  23. You know all these legendaries will be dumpy after the item revisit is done right? So low values are fine. For one, I don’t mind if I can buy a Windforce (revised edition), for $2.00.
