GamesIndustry.bz has posted a new interview with Blizzard CEO DiabloWikiPaul Sams. Paul talks about a variety of issues (nothing specifically about Diablo 3), but he does address the “why does Blizzard take so long to make games?” issue, essentially by restarting their “we’ll release when it’s finished’ motto. From the perspective of the game designers.

“We will not pull the rug out from under them and ship it before it’s done, so people feel that when they out their heart and soul into a game, they’ll be able to deliver the game they envisioned and there’s not going to be a situation where there are tonnes of compromises, we’re shipping too early and everybody does that thing where they say ‘Woulda, shoulda, coulda if we’d had the time.’”

Here’s where we fans make unhappy faces, but console ourselves by thinking of products like oh, Hellgate: London, where financial necessity forced a disastrous premature launch, and tell ourselves that it’s worth the wait with Blizzard, since the quality is always there in the end.  Right?
