No Diablo 3 Release Date to Celebrate

You  are probably all still wondering what Blizzard have hidden away for their 15th anniversary celebrations and many of you have been itching for a release date announcement. Well that’s not going to happen

We’re not announcing a release date, nor would I hint at such an announcement on Twitter.

So what about some previously released wallpapers? We all love those right? Think again…

I don’t believe any wallpapers are involved. 🙂
Could Blizzard really be pulling out all the stops for the birth of the big red one?  So what does that leave us? A new video? A reveal of the reworked skill runestones? A massive wave of Beta keys as speculated by these guys? Or…?

  1. This sucks.. finish the game and let us know when  it’s gonna be ready.  Blizzard plays games with its subjects like a young boy pulling the wings from a fly.  It’s getting old to someone who has played all the games and just wants to keep playing..

  2. I’m kinda sick of people constantly whining about the release date. When the game is ready, it will be released. Go exercise or something  😐

Wrong crowd for that comment bro.

Most of us have actually been extremely patient, considering we’ve been waiting since 2008 and the vast majority of us are understanding of the process and don’t write the rage comments on Diablo’s Facebook that you’re probably referring to. We’re just getting excited because the “early 2012” that Blizzard has consistently stuck with is approaching (here, technically).

Thanks for your concern though… and feel free to enjoy that exercise bike in the mean time.

  3. It’s going to be a 1 minute video about how WoW has influenced the development of Diablo 3, and 50 seconds of it are going to be logos, and them talking about MoP, and the last 10 seconds will be them saying “We put the camera perspective at an angle.”

  4. I can guess about it being a big wave of beta invite or a new video. That is about the only thing that would interest me since release date is out of the question.

  5. or … just another community watch on fan art xD… I agree with kenshiro

  6. i f***ing hate you bash.

    i hate you.

  7. I think it’ll be something WE won’t be much interested in. A contest most likely. Also, they may begin the Diableard challenge again.

I hope that whatever they do, it catches the attention of other gaming sites and stuff like that. Hype for D3 does not really seem to have died down (see IGN’s montage of cinematics from the most anticipated games of 2012). But we need MOAR. We need D3 to beat ME3 in sales! 🙂

  8. So, no wallpapers were harmed in the making of the “surprise”. Nice to hear. 😉

  9. Amen to that. I think fans have been beyond patient with Blizzard in regards to D3 release date.

  10. The hype is totally killing this game for me, these guys need to seriously crap or get off the pot. March isn’t far away, with no hint of a release date in sight. I think they bit off more then they can chew by trying to get to many systems out for this game, what ever happened to patching?

  11. Celebration of the anniversary of Diablo III – meet the 500 lb gorilla in the room otherwise known as the lack of a release date for Diablo III. Apparently, Blizzard thinks that by ignoring the 500 lb gorilla in the room that they can just go on with their celebration and nobody will notice it. Doesn’t seem to be working out too well for Blizzard. Shocker…

The fact is that if we had a release date, they could do just about anything to celebrate the anniversary and people would be down with it. Without a release date, it’s like the exact opposite – anything they do will be met with a relatively unenthusiastic response by the community. The only possible exception would be a contest for beta keys which would certainly be appreciated by those without beta access but also likely seen as another lame publicity ploy not befitting of a real tribute to the anniversary of the franchise.

No matter what they do now, Bashoik has basically doomed it to be an epic fail.

  12. I think it will be a starcow2 style gift. Doesn’t bother anymore. Just exclude Koreans from launch and deal with them latter. release the damn game already 👿

  13. As opposed to the gorilla in the room where if you airbrushed the famous shot of the team around the time ‘celebrated’ in december 1996 and removed everyone that left blizzard by 2007, you would have absolutely no one in the picture.

  14. Its going to be something “new” and “exciting” and “AWESOME”, like 5 brand new low resolution screenshots of act 1 beta content.

  15. Hi,
In my opinion i think that this game is going to be very popular as their features are very awesome.

  16. Diablo 3. To keep kids off drugs. Please release it already so I don’t have to be tempted.
