Following the Diablo 3 2.6.0 hotfix release and the exploit mess, Blizzard has revealed their plans moving forward. This includes a roll back on Legendary Gem levels but they are not prepared to discuss “additional actions” on the use of the “exploits” by individuals. There’s also a double XP weekend as promised.

The full statement from Blizard is can be found below, although it would be interesting to know how they will penalise players who used the exploit. It must be difficult to decide who should be punished for a problem that was put there by Blizzard in the first place.

What has annoyed the community is the fact that those who did use the exploit may get away with it and benefit from the gem level boost while those that stuck to Blizzard’s request at the end of last week not to use the exploit see no benefit. There were threads posted nearly a week ago asking if Blizzard saw this as an exploit and would players be banned but there was no quick response.

Still, a double XP weekend should please most players.

I know you’ve been eagerly awaiting an update, so a few things to share with you:

The hotfix has now been deployed. This should be applicable to all regions at this time. Thank you so much for your patience!

Lastly, we will be rolling back Legendary Gem levels to the maximum gem level that would have been legitimately achievable prior to the patch going live. As with all previous exploits, any additional actions we may take will not be discussed outside of our staff and offending individuals.

We will be holding a double XP weekend starting Friday, July 14 at 5 p.m. PT and ending Monday, July 17 at 10 a.m. PT as an apology for the delays and our gratitude for your patience as we address this issue. Thank you to all who issued reports and helped us uphold the spirit of Play Nice, Play Fair!
