Extended Diablo 3 Battle.net Maintenance Downtime

If you’re wondering why you still can’t play Diablo 3 today, the maintenance period was extended and has some hours yet to run.

Scheduled Game Maintenance – 07/30/2013

Neekliam: We will be performing scheduled game maintenance on Tuesday, July 30th. Maintenance will begin at 3:00 AM PDT and is expected to last for 8 hours. During this time Diablo 3 will not be available for play. In addition, many web services may be unavailable.

Belcorin: The maintenance period has been extended until approximately 3 PM PDT. We apologize for any inconvenience and will provide additional updates as they become available.

Thank you very much for your continued patience.

While a 12 hour maintenance downtime sucks, my silver lining is the fact that it’s probably preserved my toehold in the top 20 in July’s just-about-to-end Diablo3Ladders.com rankings, since I had no time to play today with out of town guests arriving this afternoon, and the 20-40th place people have been charging up the charts.

Update: Promptly at 3pm:

Maintenance has concluded. See you in game!

  1. Apologize? To borrow a quote from George, “You can stuff your sorries in a sack.” I get an hour to play for the first time in 2 weeks, and I’m denied thanks to extended maintenance? Any chance we’ll ever get offline play?

  2. Guess what I can do right now: Play Diablo 2.

How in the blazes do you have mandatory weekly downtime in a game released post the 1990’s. Pathetic.
