Despite not yet actually existing, Diablo III received a prominent mention in IGN’s 2008 Year in Review write up.

Then there were the games that didn’t come out this year but still managed to make some big splashes. Blizzard, as always, garnered lots of attention this year with the announcement of Diablo III and the splitting of the StarCraft sequel into three separate games. They made corporate news as well, with the three-way love fest between them and Activision and Vivendi, bringing some of the oldest and most popular third party developers under a single company.

IGN didn’t mention it, but another sign of Diablo III’s prominence is that every RPG review mentions it, usually in terms of “tide you over until…” This is most recently demonstrated in the Sacred 2 reviews by ArsTechnica and ArsTechnica.
