Diablo III Maintenance for Patch 16

Set your clocks for Blizzard time, as we have another patch incoming. While the previous patches have been met with rocky deployment, let’s hope that they’ve worked out the kinks to get a smooth patch this time around.

The Diablo III beta is currently undergoing maintenance as we prepare to deploy the next beta patch. We anticipate that downtime will last for about 8 to 9 hours, until approximately 8:00 p.m./9:00 p.m. PDT.

Please note that Beta Patch 16 will include a character wipe. As with previous character wipes, this wipe will also affect gold, achievements, items, followers, and artisans.

Thank you for your patience!

    1. Anybody got some news about the patch 16 features ?
New runes ? Rings and necklaces back ?? Sockets ?
      =) W8ing anxious to act !

      • Gotta wait till the patch is almost deployed for patchnotes I’m afraid, also Jeweler is availible in A2 so no chance for working sockets. Skills may get changed a bit, so we might get to test something new.

      • Notes are up on the installer:

        Diablo III Beta Patch 16 – v.

All characters have been wiped. Please note that this wipe will also affect gold, items, auctions, achievements, followers, and artisans.
A new feature has been added that allows players to view their FPS while in game

To access this feature, hit Ctrl+R (for PC) or CMD+R (for Mac) while playing

The cooldown on swapping skills while in Normal difficulty has been decreased from 15 seconds to 5 seconds

        Active Skills

“Clobber” rune now has a 35% chance to stun the target for 1.5 seconds

Heal decreased from 6% to 5%

        Demon Hunter

        Active Skills

Discipline cost decreased from 8 to 6

        Smoke Screen

Discipline cost decreased from 18 to 14
Duration decreased from 3 seconds to 2 seconds
Now provides a 10% movement speed boost while invisible
Can now be used while under the effects of crowd control abilities:

Using Smoke Screen will break the effects of crowd control, as well as cause your character to be immune to additional crowd control abilities for its duration

Discipline cost decreased from 10 to 8

        Witch Doctor

        Active Skills

Now performs 575% weapon damage over 12 seconds (down from 15 seconds)

Weapon damage increased from 200% to 275%

Gold and material costs for crafting recipes have been adjusted
The chance of salvaging Rate materials from Magic items has been increased

Class-specific items no longer have the chance to be generated with affixes that cannot be used by that specific class

For example, “Increased Hatred Regeneration” will no longer appear on Wands

Demon Hunter one-handed Crossbows have received a damage buff
Spirit regeneration on Monk items has been increased

Slow, stun, and other movement-impairing effects are now more effective on Treasure Goblins

In response, Treasure Goblins will now sprint away for a moment after being hit

Scavenger monsters will now burrow less often
Zombies will no longer feast on corpses unless they are full health

This is to address an issue which was preventing zombies’ enrage timer from resetting correctly

        Bug Fixes
For a full list of documented game and service bugs, please review theKnown Issues sticky located in the Beta Bug Report forum.

Players can now queue for Public Games on “Reign of the Black King” after killing the Skeleton King
Players queuing for a specific Public Games quest should no longer be placed into groups on a different quest
Being hit with a knockback ability while using Tempest Rush will no longer disconnect you from Battle.net
Placeholder text should no longer appear when looking at deceased Hardcore characters in the Hall of Fallen Heroes
There should no longer be a delay when accessing the Auction House
The female monk should now properly play her “Not Enough Resources” error message instead of her “Invalid Location” error message when attempting to perform an ability without the required amount of resources available
Items with affixes that reduce resource costs will now correctly reduce the minimum amount of a resource required to perform a skill
Several Simple and Advanced tooltips have received grammar corrections

    2. Damn i was hoping there would be no more wipes till release but glad to see a new patch. Hope it adds some customization to the UI.

    3. Bring in the patch notes!

And make me happy and bring a big fat list of balance and performance improvments! (For the enjoyment of reading, dont think a list of that is needed)

    4. Dammit. I was just about to make a follow-up video with my melee demon hunter. It took me like a week to get enough gold for that damn spear. 🙁

Ah well. Looking forward to new notes.

    5. Yay newness! It’s so cruel of them to hold back the patch notes. 🙁

Hey, maybe instead of missing their deadline by hours (or that one time… days), they should mix it up and be finished a few hours early!

    6. im quite surprised, not with patch itself but the wipe.
do you think its more like getting players a fresh start again so some will come back or rather some new mechanics ?

      • In many cases, it’s because of internal mechanics used to store and load character data (or other related data) changes, not because they want to get more people in.  If they wanted more people in, they would just run their script to send out another blast of invites.

    7. have not played beta in a week, had no intentions to play today. all of a sudden i want to and feel the need to complain

      • I haven’t played since the end of patch 13.  I don’t plan to play until it releases.  There’s something about letting some time pass so the release feels fresh 😀

        • My cut off date is the 15th of April.  That’s when I will stop playing the beta, and give myself a month build up to the release.

            • I might start up something next week Icy, as far as sharing the beta.  I have the authenticator so I am not so much worried  about someone going into my account and messing with things.

          • i am thinking the same thing eliminator. a solid month. at this point i will play the new patch for a few days then probably call it unless we get another wipe before the 15th

          • What is your reasoning to stopping a month before?  Build up some anticipation, make it more ‘new’ to you?

    8. I’m hoping for a long awaited skill UI improvements.
Can’t believe Blizz can release the game with current ugly and cheap Ui for elective mode -_-
