Diablo Fan Art Watch #221: Julien Friedrich’s Skeleton King

Welcome everyone to the latest installment of the Diablo Fan Art Watch. This week we bring you the Skeleton King by artist Julien Friedrich(Texelion). This piece was first made with a very highly detail model and then brought down to work in a game. The details and textures are awesome. A lot of love and care went into this piece.

Texelion:A personal interpretation of Leoric, the Skeleton King from Diablo 3. Really enjoyed doing it, even if it’s not as good as I wanted, due to the tricount and texture limit ( I wanted to do a really lowpoly character with a small texture for once, I’m used to 10K+ tris characters ^^ ). Maybe some day I’ll do a “next-gen” version with 20 000 tris and a 2048 texture.

    1. Nice work! But i am not a fan of this modern Blizzard style. Thick golden edges on almost every armor, big sohulders pads, anime weapon…no, not for me.

    2. When I think Leoric, I still think of the classic D1 version. Just this HUGE skeleton with no armor and a big sword, patiently wading thru an army to come lop you in half.
