Diablo 4 Apparently Shown to French Employees

Diablo 4 Apparently Shown to French Employees

In a new article that’s popped up on French publication Le Monde covering layoffs at Blizzard in Paris, there’s a side mention that Diablo 4 has apparently been shown to employees.

Before you dismiss this, I do know that Blizzard employees in Paris are shown in-production projects from time to time. What this Le Monde article, which is behind a paywall, does mention is a tentative release timeline for Diablo 4  which will apparently not be before 2020. This does, of course, make sense as there are still a few job openings and Producer joined the team not too long ago.

The translated quote reads:

What about the future? The Blizzard Entertainment teams have already had the right to a presentation of the highly anticipated Diablo 4 and know that a new Overwatch is in the pipeline. But none will come out before 2020, at best, and the employees of Versailles do not know if they will here to see their release. “Activision Blizzard will make less profi, but still make a lot of profit,” said a veteran employee.

Whether we can expect anything to appear at BlizzCon remains to be seen, a lot will depend on how far they have got with development and haven’t reworked everything again. Diablo 4 has apparently already been switched from a 3rd person ‘Souls-like’ experience back to the more familiar isometric view.

Thanks Icy.

    1. Versailles rings a bell, it’s one of those times I curse my poor memory. So Blizzard/Activision have a Game Producer for D4, well I knew that a week ago. They also have a dungeon designer now as well. I’m giving them a few years.

I think they must feel comfortable with their isometric 3D engine by now, so they are going to be wondering what they can do with it. The experimentation phase has begun. The question remains, how are they going to get around not making a D4 announcement this year??

      • They may announce it. By all accounts, they are being pressed to produce games quicker. They could easily announce it this year and released it within a couple of years.

    2. probably will be an annonce like Metroid prime 4, which means a logo with nothing else just to announce the game but i would like an actual trailer for it that would be dope to recover from d immortal lol xD

    3. I honestly expect only a logo. A tiniest teaser with logo at very best. I kinda feel that will be it if they do things properly. Because considering everything that has happened is true, then whatever more they present other than logo would seem rather rushed and completely not Blizzard like…and that could potentially end up reaaaally bad for the franchise. But I do hope it will be positive for all of us.
