Diablo 3 Wallpaper: Year Two Anniversary Edition

HolyKnight created a special Malty-themed wallpaper for Diablo 3’s second anniversary (D3Y2?) and it turned out very well. He even got a Blue fist bump for his efforts:

Vaeflare: Fantastic work on these, as always. 🙂

Greetings all this is my latest wallpaper to celebrate Diablo 3’s 2nd anniversary. On May 15th 2012 this game came out, bugs, issues and drama later and an expansion to save the game; here we stand on the second year. Here’s to that possible 2nd expansion in the near future.

What can I say though about the wallpaper. I was starting to use last years Diablo 3 First Anniversary style wallpaper and tweak it for this years, and brought over the nice lighting effect I used for the No one Can Stop Death wallpaper for RoS’s release day. So I reused that and grabbed some other elements and had some fun. The artwork used is by the artist Phroilan Gardner. With his piece I wanted to give the effect that Malthael was walking through the rune-circle like it was a portal or of similar effect. So I had the scythe on the right side overlay to help with that effect. I hope you guys like and I decided to keep the logo off this time and just use the circle to add the text and my name.

Thanks for reading and happy 2nd Anniversary Diablo III Team & Community. Here’s to many more.

    • You’ll have to take issue with Blizzard on their design, but they clearly stated a design goal of no longer using real world religious iconography in their game worlds. Much to Max’s disgust.

Also, try and get the name right. As I dubbed them months ago on the podcast… they’re seen all over Act Five, and they are… Hintagrams.

  1. Let’s hope Diablo 3 continues in this improving trend. Everyone will tell you that the first year was a disaster, if you look back objectively. Second year saw lots of improvement and brough the game closer to what fans were expecting and so far the third year looks very promising.
