Diablo 3 Ultimate Evil Edition

With Reaper of Souls now out for on PC, Blizzard are focusing on the PS4 version of Diablo 3 at PAX East this weekend. The PS4 version of Diablo 3 is a called the Diablo 3 Ultimate Evil Edition and it’s not a simple port of the first game either, it comes with Reaper of Souls included. Not a bad deal for PS4 owners because Blizzard has added some special new game features that are worth pointing out.

Items can be sent to friends through a mail system so Blizzard are encouraging trading and online play between PS4 owners. Player gifts have been added so when a legendary drops you  receive a gift which you can send to a friend via the mail system and when they open the gift it rolls an item for your friend that’s level appropriate to them. This item could be Rare or Legendary.

Loot is being distributed in a priority system as it drops for everyone on the PS4. So a strength item would go the Barbarian in the party and so on.

In the new Nemesis System, when you die, the monster that kills you levels up. He then jumps into a portal and leaves your game. A few days later that monster may appear in one of your friends game’s and that same monster is named after the player it killed so your friend that sees him knows it was you that died and sent him their way. If the monsters kills your friend it gets more powerful and keeps on working through the lists of players’ friends until it’s defeated.

Apprentice Mode will allow lower level characters to join a higher level character and the game will boost the lower level character’s stats so they can handle the higher levels your friend is playing in.

Bonus experience is being given for groups to encourage gamers to play together and Massacre bonuses will also give more experience. The same goes for using the environment, kills from falling objects for example  will give more experience. Massacres also have chance of dropping a Nephalim Glory globe.

The feature that I would love to see added to the PC version is the Nemesis System, although I have a feeling I would be sending a lot of monsters out to people on my friends list. They’d probably end up removing me from their friends list to stop the steady flow of mobs into their games 🙂

If you want to see the game in action, Gamespot posted some shaky-cam footage with the game running at 60 FPS at 1080p which was just taken at PAX this weekend.

  1. Nemesis system for PC, NAO! It would be pretty fun for Hardcore. 🙂

    The higher Massacre and similar bonuses are also nice, they are pretty insignificant on the PC.

  4. I don’t even want the nemisis system. I only have 1 person in my friendlist. ;p
    Unless they include community/clan people. Nah still not… unless they add a tagg out option.

    • How would your game experience become worse by having the Nemesis system?

      • Personally, I wouldn’t want the elite that kills me to portal out and deny me the revenge kill and/or loot.

      • Cause I play hardcore maybe?

        • You might also wish to remove elite spawn “coz hardcore”?
          It seems to be just a simple RP addition to the game, let’s not bitch about everything.

            This doesn’t fit into the normal gameplay mechanics. Other people’s failures should not affect my games. If I would 1-5 friends who all who die because of it and it would end up in my torment game I indeed wouldn’t like it.

            I’m providing feedback in a friendly manner, try it sometime.

    • I think the Nemesis feature would be pretty cool if it could span for clan members for example. It’s just a nice little quirk I can’t see it how it can be game-breaking for anybody =)

  5. How is the difficulty setting/scaling now for the PS4 version?

    With the other console versions master/torment is easier compared to the pc version (see gameguide).

  6. I find this absolutely outrageous (oh we might get XPAC first who in the right mind gives a care about that). Mail system trading for console was the last straw with me. AGAIN PC PLAYERS TESTING FEATURES that will be fully flushed out in the upcoming console release. Blizzard should be ashamed of them selves for literally throwing all PC players under the bus and releasing a buggy mess ( which are still found today i might add). At launch constant DC’s Infamous ERROR 37/38. hundreds of hard earned time wasted on the people who play HC FOR WHAT, THERE’S NO DAMN AH TO KEEP MONITORING AND EARNING YOUR CHEAP POCKET CHANGE FOR VALUED COSTUMERS WHY ALWAYS ONLINE NOW!!! oh and who won’t be getting the infamous HC DC loss, the CONSOLE CROWD of players that are laughing at the state D3 is on PC its originator. Another tiny gripe FIX THE STUPID FPS/STUTTER in specific locations (Rkkis Crossing for example) runs smooth as butter on console tested multiple times btw. BUT NOOOOO spend £128 on a SSD and a plethora of other expensive parts for the same fuckin stuttering results. Sorry for the mini rant had to get it out 🙂

  7. Well, console players tested a good chunk 2.0 for us… I’d just give it time and we’ll see some of those features on PC.

    Stuttering? Must be your comp, the only lag spike I am experiencing is the freeze upon inventory opening \added\ with 2.0.4

  8. Are we all missing the major issues here? Priority loot? Trading items via mail that just becomes a random roll for the other person? Come on.
    The nemesis system is just hype right now. Thats not a game breaker. But this other is stuff is pure sh*t
