Diablo 3 System Requirements

While this isn’t exactly “new” news, the question about DiabloWikiDiablo 3 system requirements continues to be a general topic of interest. Official requirements have been released regarding minimum and recommended specs for your computers. The requirements have been updated as of January 21st and are subject to change.

The minimum specs appear to be… rather modest. So you may want to hold off on that computer overhaul if you’ve been biding your time to make the perfect rig for Diablo 3’s release.

  1. This is great news ! Official system req are finally posted, i can smell the game in my fingertips soon enough it shall be mine !!

  2. The “perfect rig” for Diablo III could’ve been built eight years ago.

  3. they haven’t changed all that much at all. You need a 5yr old PC as minimum pretty much

  4. I’m sure a 3DS could play D3 no problem.

  5. SIGHN UHF REEHLEASE … both smileys work 8) 🙄

  6. Plus why would you build one now, just wait another year or two until the game comes out and build a system for half the price of what it would take now.

  7. they items u need to run on full are already half-priced… my 8800gt is like 5-6? years old… ill be playing on medium/high. tyvm.

  8. i just got the stock intel hd graphics card. i was on the low list.. hope im still at least on the list.. but off topic how could i get a great med/high for around 100 bucks?

    • I was checking prices on some of the lower end video cards listed in Blizzard’s high performance, and there were several in the $85 range. Maybe that was skimping on the RAM or the like; I didn’t study that closely, but you do not need to drop $500 on state of the art for the top d3 performance.

    • Go to tomshardware and check out the “Best Graphics Cards for the Money: January 2012” article.  Every month tomshardware runs cards against their benchmark lineup and then categorizes them in $100 and under, $100 to $180, $180 to $300, $300 to $400, and $400+.  You would be surprised how capable some of the $85 cards are.  They do the same monthly for virtually every component in your PC.  Here is a link:

  9. why the difference in video cards between a mac and a pc ?

  10. Duo core processors are recommended ? Isn’t that like 5+ year old tech ?

    • i5’s are Duo Core and you can get SandyBridge, and that’s still cutting edge duo-core.

      • 🙂 since I really dont know much of the technical stuff about computers will this laptop run Dia3 with any quality? Acer Aspire AS7750G-6645  and yes I know it is an acer and dont want a new desktop that is why im asking about this laptop.. thanks for whom ever can anwser this.

  11. hah, i’ll be playin’ in very high detail, on highest res, like it will matter lol.

but it definetly sounds like they’re very close to an announcment.

  12. The original concrete block of a gameboy could play D3 on minimum.

Also inc. twitter “the official release  of system requirements has nothing to do with release of the game.”

  13. DVD ROM? That’s not required anymore, if you download from Blizzard themselves.

  14. The only system req I’d wish to see is “PS3” 😉

  15. lol i have post it a month ago 😀 and these specs are able about 1,5-2 months 😀

  16. Ok, just to be clear. I have been playing the beta on Athlon X2 4800+, 2GB of ram and a 8600GT. It runs well on medium settings but when the game is full and there are like 30 monsters in front it´s rly laggy. so I should recommend at least Athlon X4 Phenom or a Core2Duo T9000/i3 and graphics above 9000 series of Radeon. Whit this rig you should be able to play on max settings without drops in framerate.  My laptop is AMD Phenom X4 N930, 4GB of RAM and ATI 5650 and it runs the game very well. I think that any new 15 inch laptop with dedicated graphic will be more than enough for Diablo 3. (when im talking about a new laptop a mean something from 2010-2011 which is not ultrabook or netbook, but a full size laptop). And from my point of view there is no much difference between low, medium and high settings, so you wont notice the difference a part from the lack of shadows when you play on law settings. With WoW for example the difference between low and high was rly big, which is not the case with D3.  Advice: If you still have your Pentium 4 or Athlon 64 on your desk and you want to play the game, just buy any medium price tag laptop with dedicated graphic and you should be fine.

    • Even with my 5870 and x4 @3.8GHz i notice some drops in fps in 4 player games with lots of spells and monsters. Not very hard drops but still annoying…  Hope the internal version is better then the beta 😉

      • Well, thats custom engine, so there will be definitely some drivers updates when the game is out so it’s not question of hoursepower but graphic adjustments. With 5650 you can easily play Crysis 2 on medium settings with 30fps stable framerate which can be translated into hight settings for D3 with 40fps.

  17. posting this here because I can’t post in the forums – it complains of missing security token

another problem, all the button images at the bottom of each post are missing: reply, quote, report – they’re all just empty boxes

another problem – when I try to crate a new thread the input box is completely misaligned – the images to choose the smileys are in the middle of the box, all the text I type is right aligned

    its a total mess

  18. My system is bang on the recommended settings.

    Diablo 3, here I come!!!

  19. I think all this talk about WHOA A GAMEBOY COULD PLAY D3 and THE PERFECT D3 MACHINE COULD HAVE BEEN BUILD 800 YEARS AGO are a bit of an exaggeration.
Blizzard’s (and most companies) minimum requirements are not designed to give you an even remotely playable experience, especially if you only have integrated graphics on your motherboard. The minimum requirements just mean “if you have this, you will be allowed to install the game, and it will technically load” but I had a laptop last year that was roughly halfway in between the minimum and recommended specs for SC2 and it was absolutely awful. Slow and clunky on the lowest possible settings, and when there was a lot of action it was like watching a slideshow.
I’d say their recommended requirements are the real minimum if you want a decent experience, and if you want to play everything on highest settings you will still need something better.

  20. only those that have no experience at all with games would be able to think min req would be playable

  21. Anyone else kinda thinking the min hard drive space is rather high? I mean I know it’s not the old D2 graphics but hell even WoW was at 13gigs with the first 2 ex-pacs. Maybe it’s just me…

  22. They are not low at all,  😯 and almost out of reach for a 13” laptop and not-gaming laptops.
Starcraft II requirements are much, lower. How that can be possible? ❓

  23. So if I can run SC2 on my laptop, can I run Diablo 3?

  24. If you want to get a great deal from this post then you have to apply such strategies to your won
    webpage.
