Blizzard has announced that Diablo 3 Season One Starts Friday Evening, US time. This gives you guys just a few days to experiment with all the Patch 2.1 changes before shit gets real this weekend when the Ladder race is on!

We’re pleased to announce that our first Diablo III Season is scheduled to begin this Friday, August 29th. To ensure the roll-out process goes smoothly as possible for all players, we’re planning a staggered release, with different gameplay regions launching the season at different times.

For reference, below are the current launch times for Season 1:

  • Asia: 9:00 a.m. PDT (1:00 a.m. KST, UTC +9)
  • Europe: 12:00 p.m. PDT (9:00 p.m. CEST, UTC +2)
  • Americas: 6:00 p.m. PDT (UTC -10)

Please note that these times are tentative and subject to change. If they do, we will be sure to update this thread.

I can’t help but notice the season starts Friday evening, California time. Just perfect for Blizzard employees to get home, order a pizza, pop open a few beers, and get to leveling. Purely a coincidence on the time, I’m sure, and it’s not like the employees get a head start or anything, but I am reminded of a famous scene from a movie hardly anyone felt the need to view.

This seems like a good place to include the vote we ran a couple of weeks ago, measuring fan interest in Seasons. If you’ve already voted you can’t do it again (unless you delete the cookie, and that would be wrong), but I wonder if opinions have changed?

Will you create char(s) in Diablo 3 Season One?

I voted no when the poll first went up, but since then the idea of playing a new char in a clean economy has grown on me, and I’m planning to roll a new Hardcore Monk Friday evening, real life schedule permitting. Anyone else planning some weekend new character time?
