    1. Digital Deluxe Edition has been bought, around 17 mins after it’s been made available! I haven’t been playing this franchise since 1996 in order to stop now! 😉 If only a beta key would have been included with this pre-order.. a man can only hope!

Btw, Flux.. just watched your brainstorming session video, and it’s nice to finally set a face to a voice and a net personality I have “known” since late 2000. Great job there as well!

      Now gieb Beta, damnit!

    2. My prediction was spot on. I predicted the 25th March 2013 a week ago! Yay, 3 months left…

    3. I feel sorry for anyone who wastes their money on this abomination.

      • I feel sorry for anyone who doesn’t have anything better to do than stalk something they believe is an abomination.

        Get a life kiddo.

      • Standard Edition is available for $39.99 USD *

Yep, they fucked up. I’m laughing so hard right now at all the drones who swore the game would be in the $20-$30 range, enjoy paying forty bucks for a box of features Blizzard cut out of alpha development. This is supposed to be an apology for the massive fuckup that was D3V but instead it’s a full-priced DLC package for a 2 hour act and shit that console kiddies already get for free.

Anyone supporting this cancer needs to have their gaming rights revoked, you people are literally killing PC gaming by supporting this company.

        • RoS is cheaper than LoD was at launch when you actually take inflation into account rather than pretending money’s value is fixed forever. LoD was also just a short act and a bunch of features that people take as completely standard now (like magic items being able to have sockets in) that could easily have been in a free patch. Remember when they also released a patch to make vanilla D2 harder so people were forced to upgrade, which was very controversial at the time? No, of course you don’t. Selective memory and frenzied zealotry are wonderful things.

      • fu…you know you´ll buy the game.It´s just a matter of time 😀

Even though I hate the expensive price we have to pay for the expansion(considering what we get), I´ll most likely be buying it, because I have some really good friends online that I enjoy playing with. That´s enough to win me over.

        • Don’t forget Diablo 3 has a 3.8/10 user score on metacritic

No, I won’t be buying the expansion. The only time period I’m interested in is how many weeks after playing before the few morons who buy the xpac realize what the rest of us realized months ago.

      • I can’t speak for fu but I find time 2 come on here still and read quite a few articles/comments and I weirdly enjoy the chance 2 rile up the fanboys, I think its because D3 was a far inferior product compared to D2…Also I have a life, visiting here is almost habitual, just in case you were going to tell me how I should spent my internet time 😛

    4. Let the hating begin! /popcorn

Despite it all I’ll more than likely pick up a copy, although which version is still undecided.

    5. Picked up the standard edition – bit more expensive than I expected it to be if I’m honest. Also as I only play Diablo games in the Blizzard universe what the DD offers doesn’t really inspire me to fork out anything extra. Havn’t played D3 in 6 months but I have played on the PTR with the changes and with adventure mode etc. in RoS on top of that I expect I’ll get my money’s worth.

Looking forward to playing Diablo for the first time in quite a long time…..

    6. So who won the pool?

      I think I had March 14.

    7. mh +20$ for three charactar slots seems a bit expensive. I hope they offer those cheaper without the other stuff.

      • My thoughts exactly. I don’t care about the aethestical fluff, but the extra character slots could be very handy for mules and such (I’ve been sitting on 10/10 slots in vanilla for a year now).

That being said, does anyone know if we’re still going to get 2 more slots by default in RoS? I remember hearing about it a while ago but haven’t been following the beta closely enough to see it for myself.

      • I do not pour that much hate at Blizzard, whatever people say they still produce pretty much the best games out there.
But, the decision to give only those that pay extra for some collectors edition those 3 extra character slots… that’s a decision they should burn for.

As I remember they stated in the beginning that “10 slots is enough, and if needed it will be revisited and increased in the future” Now they acknowledge that we need more slots, and then they want to get paid for it. Once again. Burn.

Maybe a bit harsh, but hey 😉

    8. GLORIOUS! Great news, can’t wait to play. Seriously though, is anyone slightly freaked out by the speed Blizzard seem to be pushing out this expansion? They only announced it in August!

    9. I KNEW flux was wrong to date D3X on late 2014….ha ;D

    10. Oh how delightful, they still directly convert the currencies, so $59.99 becomes 59.99 EURO…

God damn i wish everyone would stop converting money like that, because it’s some serious f-ing bullshit.

      • Part of it is VAT, but really that’s only half an excuse at best.

        • It’s 79,90/119,90 BRL (Brazilian Real) – or something like US$ 34.00/51.00.

More important – normal version costs 40 LBLN (local beer long necks) and digital deluxe version costs 60 LBLN . My personal currency seems to be following the US price maybe? 🙂

(And I was able to buy 50-60 long necks of my favored red ale on the winter/spring, before end of year, summer and people going rampant to supermarkets, creating an inflaion on beer prices…)

    11. This site is only popular because of Diablo 2, a game which many people still play.

Diablo 3 is already being painfully forgotten, RoS will be nothing more than a bad memory.

I won’t be, picking up a copy neither physically nor digitally. If you support shoddy games like this, expect more of it in the future.

      • Thx to haters D3 will never be forgotten. Thank you my man 😀

        • Do you feel like a hipster knowing that you’re part of an ever shrinking minority?

          • Pretty please come back here when RoS sells a couple million copies and tell us what a huge forgotten failure it is. Pretty pretty please?

            • To be fair, 2 million copies would be a big failure; D3C sold 12 million.

            • I can’t click “Reply” to trocadero so I’ll just click yovarga’s “Reply” instead…

You can expect it so sell far less than regular D3 did, that’s normal for expansions. Even something held in very high regard, like Lord of Destruction, only sold about a quarter of the amount that D2 did (1.2 million compared to 4.2 million). Then of course it scales; selling a quarter of 1 million is a lot easier than selling a quarter of a billion, even if those audiences exist potentially as defined by a base game. Selling about 3 million would make it a greater success in context than LoD. Time will tell.

    12. Unfortunatley, this wont be day 1 purchase for me. The entire D3 experience has been warm at best. Feel bad since I consider myself a diablo veteran since 1996..but had to much of the blizz bullshit recently.

      • – Malthael mouse pad, bearing the impenetrable visage of the Angel of Death
        – Hardback Collector’s Edition art book, chronicling the game’s artistic development
        – Behind-the-scenes Blu-Ray/DVD two-disc set, featuring in-depth interviews with the development team and members of the Diablo III community

    13. So if we’re full up on slots, which most long-time players are, we can’t play the new crusader without either paying extra or deleting our existing characters? There goes my plan to buy this.

    14. Order my CE to go next to my other CEs. Bring it on I can’t wait.

    15. So the road-map is pretty clear: End of PTR = late January. PreEXP patch sometime february and beta will close probably in late February too.

    16. They really need to clarify the extra character slots. Don’t buy RoS? 10 slots? Buy regular RoS? 12 slots? Buy Deluxe RoS? 15 slots? Buy Ultimate Arcade Super Edition? Blanka?

    17. I am a hater, I am bitter, I am disappointed.

I will still buy it and play it, but this time around things will be different. Lower expectations. Enjoy it for a few weeks, which is well worth the $40 to me. It’s just not going to be a great long lasting experience for years to come like D2X was.

No runewords? No charms? Even the new and improved legendaries look like boring stat sticks with bigger numbers and a little gimmick attached to them.

Hard to be disappointed when I’m expecting no more than one month of gameplay from it. Hope I am wrong, but I just don’t see this xpac doing the same for D3 as it did for D2.

      • Lol, wow, this cracks me up.

I am glad you can admit that even though d3 wasn’t the second coming, it’s still decent enough and fun enough to warrant investing in the expansion (for you).

Personally I plan to hold off a while and regear at level 60 and see how people like it after 3 months.

        • I really like the art and gameplay for RoS. For that reason alone I am buying it. It’s worth the money for me. Despite that, I am really disspointed with what blizzard has put out in terms of an overall gameplay experience. RoS is what D3 classic should have been and still missing some. Blizzard just isn’t what it use to be. They put so much detail into minor things for RoS and forget about the bigger picture.

i don’t expect to play RoS for more than a month and this time around I won’t be angry or disappointed. Blizzard just isn’t capable of putting out a complex, inspiring, easy to learn hard to master game. They have some major team management and visionary problems. D3 is an obvious evidence for that.

The only regrets I have with buying RoS this time around is that many of my friends will not be buying it and unfortunately I won’t waste my time talking them into buying another product they will be disappointed in. RoS isn’t nearly enough or even good enough to get a lot of the really vocal haters for d3 classic back. It’s still only a good game, not worthy enough to carry the diablo 3 title.

          • I don’t really know what you mean by overall gameplay experience, but if part of that is the itemization then I think that judging that part of the game without seeing for yourself how the new stats work together is a mistake.

When you combine certain Legendaries the result is more powerful than the sum of its parts. Certain Legendaries can also completely change your stat priorities, so to fully utilize them you potentially have to change the majority of your gear. The situation is similar to D2 LoD, where you had cool new Runewords and Uniques, but I don’t think anyone before launch foresaw builds like the Kodiak for the Assassin. If you don’t know it Google it, it’s one of the most complex builds for the game.

To see in more detail what I’m talking about check out Ivan E’s PTR impressions thread in the general discussion forum. There I wrote a lengthy post, saying why I think the new itemization is really cool and a huge improvement over the classic version of the game.

Of course if you weren’t talking about itemization at all or if you already played the PTR a lot and what you wrote was based on your experience then feel free to completely disregard what I just wrote. 🙂

    18. i just want upgrade to get angel wing.

    19. The EU prices are insane! 🙁

      • 20 € extra for some additional digital falderal is indeed quite obscene. 2/3 of the original game’s price for an expansion that contains about 1/4 of the content surely isn’t quite altruistic either …

      • Sabre the price in general is insane for only 1 act, 1 class and the mystic. The rest could basically be in a patch and there´s still no pvp…Greedy assholes seriously.

    20. Awe I was a mere 10 days off on my guess of March 15th =( close cookie?

    21. Good luck suckers! Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on ME!
The Beta is supposed to be the main selling point for this, and the beta is garbage. Even Core D3 seems better. As usual, Blizzard degrades, rather than improves. Loot 0.2, Paragon 0.2, Nephalem this, Nephalem that. They need to invent the Nephalem Refund. It’s obvious this dev team can only make pop games, all the while wiping their bottoms with the community feedback. So no way am I pre-ordering Call of Diablo. I’ll just check in around May to see where the game is at… Probably still in extended Beta. Path of Exile is where it’s at, for sure. I can’t believe how fun & polished that game is. A minor bug in PoE is what would be considered a ‘core game feature’ in D3.

      • What happened to the down vote option, Flux?

        • Site admins with more regard for wounded feefees deemed it a tool of deviltry and distraction, hence now there are only upvotes. I personally like forum reputation systems and up/down votes and such.

      • Really? I’ve been watching twitch streams of it for a while now and am stoked. PoE is excellent, don’t get me wrong. but there is room in my gaming life for both games.

        • PoE has its own issues, just like every other game. Which game you enjoy despite its flaws is something that everyone should decide for themselves. Today good ARPGs are few and far between in my opinion, so we should be happy that we choices at all.

    22. Diablo 3: Reaper of fools

    23. Sure thing chief but it would be even better to come here when it sells 5 million copies and a month later you’re all crying about how bad the game is.

      Just a heads up 😉

    24. So, if the AH is closing down on March 18th, is that when the free Loot 2.0 stuff is coming to D3V or do we have to wait a week and buy ROS for it?

    25. Super Short Story.
I loved Diablo 3 for a long time. At one point the game just end and your progression hit a huge wall. RoS does nothing to fix that wall apart from moving it away some feets.

That’s why I have a D3 CE and will not buy RoS. Heartstone and Heroes of the Storm look better than this expansion, free game with a very lacking thing in Diablo 3, service, in other words constant work, patches, debug, balance…They left Diablo 3 and PC gamers there to rot.

I’ve been playing that for a year, the NDA just lifted.

    27. Can anyone tell me what the spectral hound minion actually does? Pick up my gold? Items? dry hump my leg?

    28. what about the console version…….

RoS will sell well by industry standards and very poorly by Blizzard standards. There’s no doubt it will sell a few million, which most companies would love, but the numbers will be awful for a Blizzard game. It will be Blizzard’s worst selling xpac to date.

    30. Diablo 3 sold like 5.5 m copies in under 24 hours if my memory serves me well.

But not this time Bobby, not this time.

    31. Quick question: anyone know if there is a limit on the Digital Deluxe Edition? I have to think about whether or not the extra stuff is worth it to me, and I don’t want to pre-order right now. If there is a limit, I’d be fine with just buying the Standard edition, but I really like aesthetic extras, and I think the helms and weapons look really cool. However, cool or not, I’m not sure if it’s worth my money, so I don’t want in right now. Thanks for any information anyone can give me.

      • Yep, gotta order fast before they run out of digital deluxe editions =)

        • Thanks for the information. Because of this, I won’t buy the Deluxe Edition, and will instead just get the Standard. I am going to school in China now and I don’t have a job, so I’m just relying on my parents and grandparents to help me pay for stuff. As a result, I wouldn’t be able to get the physical stuff with the Deluxe Edition, such as the music and the artbook, so I don’t think I can really justify paying and extra $20 for a few cosmetic changes. Thanks a lot for the information, I really appreciate it!

I’ve been wondering the same thing. ROS is expensive enough at 40 Euro. I’m not sure if it is worth another 50% on top of that for the Digital Deluxe Edition. I think they’re both way over-priced, especially when compared to the US/NA prices.

    33. Totally underwhelming considering the price. There’s no way in hell I’m jumping into this for $40 after the insult that was D3 vanilla.

    34. QUOTE

Part 2 of the new podcast we got into discussion about not char slots, but stash size. Now that there's no AH and so much binding, and so many legendaries with specific mods for different builds, players are going to need much more space.

Ah, interesting point. Have queued up the last few podcasts for some holiday listening 🙂

    35. but Europ players who can understand Enligh can buy the US edition as well. Right? Y pay more to buy the same game.

    36. I really struggle financially but, I still don’t mind shelling out a few dollars for this game. I know there’s a lot of work that goes into it and I’m happy to support anything Diablo.

I just wish that the game developers, and even you Flux, could stop supporting bad ideas at Blizzard. Take the barbarian for example: Flux, we all know you hate him … but, you represent all of us; at least that’s how I see it. When you rail on how OP barbs are and pat the game developers on the back for hard nerfing the “OP” barbs … you just dragged a lot of people’s game down the tubes. the barb is now slow, sluggish and unfun … But, you don’t play a barb; so you can laugh about it. But, it wont be as funny to you if the same thing happen to your monks best skills.

We need blizzard to understand that if they’re going to clip barbs, remove the AH, Make all the best gear Bound and untradeable; it’s going to eventually be a downer for many of us.

let’s face it, even the haters are going to buy the expansion and play all day every day. But, that doesn’t mean that people eventually, after ‘oooo shiny” wears off, going to resent these bad decisions that are coming down the pike.

      • The way I see it is not necessarily that the Barbarian needs the nerf so much as that particular play-style (spin-to-win) needs the nerf. I played Barbarian for a little while, and of the possible play-styles, spin-to-win was both the most powerful and the least interesting to play. The game basically played itself, and you collected the loot. Therefore, I don’t really mind getting rid of that build, just like I don’t really mind getting rid of Archon Build (I main the Wizard, so I did a lot of Archon). In fact, my first thought on starting the PTR was ‘oh God, it feels good to not be playing Archon build!’

That said, from what I saw of the changes, it didn’t look like the Barbarian itself was getting too much of a nerf. Old, OP builds seem to be gone, and new styles seem to be emerging, such as a possible ranged-Barb, using the newly-Fury-gaining Weapon Throw, or running a jumping build with the legendary/set that empowers Leap. From the setup on PTR and RoS beta, it seems like a lot of builds are going to be based on legendary/set bonuses, so I think it’s too early to complain about nerfs until the whole list of legendary/set bonuses comes out. That said, I don’t think that the Barbarian itself needs a nerf, just that play-style, so if the Barbarian itself feels much weaker, then something needs to be done. Because I feel this way, I don’t really see Blizzard’s decision as a bad decision; however, if it turns out that the whole class was nerfed badly, then I would definitely approve of a buff.

      • I haven’t played the new Barb too much yet, but from streams it seems to me that they are still extremely powerful with high-end gear. 60%+ movement speed at will, very fast attack speed, tons of damage with potential perma-CC. The only thing that really changed is that recovery without Life Steal is more complex and it’s easier to die if you aren’t careful, but this isn’t a Barb specific challenge.

The issue could be that not all of the classes feel as good without the new Legendaries. In my experience the WD and Wizard has a really strong base with lots of options. It’s possible that the Barb is lacking in this regard, but I’ll need to play them more to say for sure.

        • well, I guess it’s because, like you said, “you haven’t played the new barb too much” but, what they’ve done is remove the whirl wind rune that let’s one whirl at whatever your current run/walk speed is. So, barbs in D3V are really dynamic and move quickly through packs. Now, they don’t. It’s such a major change … people will just stop play the barb. It feels broken to me and it’s frustrating to try to whirl now instead of fun. I keep trying to get the barbarian where I want him on the screen and after about 20 minutes of play my wrist starts to ache … I will probably eventually adjust to this this sluggish version of the barb … but, the change is ‘unfun’

          • I’ve been playing around with the Furious Charge rune that allows you to reset the skill’s cooldown if you hit 5+ enemies. I really liked it even during the Whirlwind days. It’s another way to make a quick paced Barb that relies partly on movement to survive. I’ll be giving this build a more serious trial in RoS I think.

    37. Too bad about the US->:EU pricing, but me still wants a CE.

    38. Does anyone know where to actually buy the CE?

    39. While Blizzard is fast tracking this pile of garbage to market I don’t understand why people are buying it. D3V is garbage. Nothing in RoS changes this fact. Hell, Blizzard has not even delivered game features that were listed on D3V box. People should be filing law suits not handing them more money. What a world in which we live.

    40. So much crying in this thread lol, as usual.

Been playing PTR and I really like the new class buffs. Only issues are the hideous drop rates and lack of a trading medium. Without a proper yet attractive trading medium, there is a lack of motivation to even play the game. Part of Diablo series has always been finding the best gear for your own character AND finding gear to sell away for the big bucks. With the time limit and BoA everything, that spark has been extinguished in an attempt to simplify the game.

Act 5 looks amazing but rifts don’t seem really that attractive anymore. Adventurer mode with all that simple teleport and rinse/repeat killing the same bounty over and over again simply isn’t gratifying. There needs to be more, something unique and adding more oomph then making everything way too balanced. I’m probably getting RoS but I hope they improve all these issues.

    41. 40€ regular version, 80€ CE. For two hours of new content, one additional skill per class, one new class, a few features removed and some minor fixes, still ignoring the main problems… No, just no. I’d rather donate 20 bucks to GGG for nothing in return rather than paying 40€ for another box of junk on my shelf. Maybe next expansion.

I will speak with my wallet and will not buy this game. D3 was a disgrace and the only thing Blizz should have done is said ‘we are sorry, here’s the best we can do with D3 exp for 20$”
