Diablo 3 Console Review Round-up Part 1

Expect these to come flooding in over the next few days, it’s time to start the review scores for the console version of Diablo 3.

A common thread as to why the scores are so high is the fact there is no always online requirement and also no auction house which is no huge surprise.

  1. Wow nice scores, im surprised…Well if i had a PS360 i would def pick it up…Just look at gameplays, its just so much fun and you CANT find that kind of game, with so much polishment on consoles…

  2. It should be pointed out the scores aren’t end game scores or have they been playing it for weeks?

  3. Or it could be that review sites are sponsored by the games they are rating.

  4. Or it could be that the game is good. You haters are so lovely people 🙂

    • yeah, I was just gonna say – it’s not possible that the game is also GOOD?

      c’mon guys

If this means more Diablo in the future for PC, that is fine with me.

      • As Rush said in the post, you look at all of the D3 early reviews and 95% of the complaints were about RMAH and no-offline mode. Console removes both of those issues…

  5. Except that we kinda seen it and well… yeah.

It’s also already in the hands of pirates, so direct experience in 3… 2… 1…

which is why i call it the superior version. the game will have even more value when the price drops (all console games drop in price) to $20 or lower. oh yeah, don’t for get the pause and evade button.

It’s not a matter of people being ‘haters’, it’s a matter of accepting what Blizzard has already acknowledged and promised to fix in the 2.0 changes. If the game really was near-on perfect Blizzard would be changing nothing.

They are changing very little that would matter to the average gamer. All the whining we do round here is mostly about stuff only the hardcore/old-school Diablo fans would much care about. To everyone else, D3 was plenty of fun.

    • The average gamer fails to see flaws of a game. You can’t bash the “vocal minority” because the “vocal minority” tends to know best. Because they have more experience, and not only over one game.

  9. Yup, and Diablo 3 is near-on perfect, not perfect 🙂

The average gamers quit in July at the latest and can’t be brought back for nothing. Marketing to an audience that has already left you seems… foolish.

  11. No, the average gamer played it through once or twice, thought it was pretty fun, and will think about trying more if the reviews are good.

Hardly any games have a large audience actively playing it for more than a couple months and yet plenty of games make successful xpacs/DLC.

*checks any random video about console, sees a ton of negative remarks*

Yeah, even if you’re right that’s not working out. Anyways, I know several of those guys, they’re the ones with a last log in time of 11 months ago and if they mention the game at all it’s to bash the game. They didn’t leave happy, and even giving them gearsets didn’t make them stay more than a few hours at most.

  13. I was not disappointed, someone in the comments really said “maybe they sponsored by the game maker”.

How much you wanna bet the console game sells a couple mil despite the year+ of rampant online negativity?

Us online forum nerds tend to think we’re way bigger and more significant than we really are.

  15. What will the user Metacritic score be now that there’s no Error 37 to complain about? 😮

yeah, but they're pandering to you whiners because they worried about their brand name. their core audience has been [email protected] on their game and drowning it in salty tears 24/7 for over a year which can potentially hurt their brand name and consumer confidence. it's the reason why their tone has changed from the arrogance of pre-release into seemingly contrite and apologetic post-release.

true, but D3 console hasn't proven itself to be a Madden, BF, FIFA, CoD, GTA, etc. those are franchise IP with long track records of huge sales, without 10 year gaps and seemingly immune to all criticism. i'm wouldn't be surprised if that's blizz goal, but they haven't reached 60, 80, +100 million copies sold yet. they're small fries in comparison.

on a side note, apparently the console version is available for reserve at toysRus for $45. which is a better value than a $60 beta, but still too much money for an updated version of gauntlet or an adult version of a LEGO game, IMO.
  17. D3 PC also got good reviews from several sites.

Don’t always trust in reviews before release dates: that’s what I learned from D3. That and pre-ordering a game rather then buying after release which is kinda the same thing.

    • My exact thoughts. Listening to reviews from these major sites that also gave D3 on the PC glowing reviews…well, let’s just say that it would be difficult for me to believe that they are telling the truth.

  18. D3 is worlds better than similar games available on console.

  19. spoiler]Someone had better get Azmodan a plus-size parka, because hell has officially frozen over. Not only has a Blizzard game been released on consoles

  20. How long until people figure out without the mob density boosts the loot sucks?

  21. At the same time, there a so many good action games or action RPG (Castlevania, God of War, Demon’s or Dark soul, Dragon’s crown, Darksiders…) to be played with a pad that it is less interesting to have a Hack & Slash on a console. On a PC, we do not have so many good action titles and Diablo shines more. On console, not so much, IMO.
