The Diablo 3 beta has ended in China and the game is now live and open to the public in that region. In China it’s free to play for D3v, with a fee to upgrade to Reaper of Souls, plus all the “stash for cash” features (full details here) that a surprising majority of you guys in the US/EU want as well.

The grand opening article can be seen on the official Diablo 3 China site, which includes a video with Mike Morhaime. He says over 1m players have purchased the RoS upgrade since the beta testing began last month, though no word on the real money purchases (Plat for Stat?) is yet available.

“Diablo III: Reaper of Souls” national service operations today officially opened, Chinese players and the holy military confrontation with the angel of death to the time! Take this opportunity, we want to participate in the testing of millions of players to express my heartfelt gratitude, thank you for their time, give us patience, providing valuable feedback, suggestions, and bug reports. Meanwhile, Blizzard Entertainment CEO and co-founder Mike Morhaime also brought his greetings to the majority of Chinese players.

BTW, one of the Google translations for “Reaper of Souls” was “Prodigy Scythe,” which I have to admit has a pretty cool ring to it. Like a foundational 1990s big beat electronic band. NSFW version of their best known track.
