Diablo 3 +100% Bonus Experience Christmas Weekend

christmas buff 2014Blizzard has fired out a present to all players, with a +100% experience buff from Dec 25th through Sunday the 29th.

Get ready to deck the hells with a few extra experience points.

That’s right! All nephalem who log into Diablo III this weekend on any platform* will receive a +100% bonus to experience gain. As with previous buffs, the bonus provided will stack multiplicatively with other existing bonuses, including those provided by items, shrines, Pools of Reflection, and Paragon points.

Doesn’t matter if you’ve been naughty or nice! This festive in-game boost begins for console and PC players alike in the Americas region on Thursday, December 25 at 12:00 a.m. PST and ends on Monday, December 29 at 11:59 p.m. PST.**

Whether you’re in Sanctuary, Azeroth, Mar Sara, the Nexus, or your local Hearthstone tavern, we hope that you and yours share in the warmth of the season. Happy holidays, heroes, and have a very merry new year!

*Please note that this buff will only be available on console for Ultimate Evil Edition.

**For PC, the buff will start and end at the noted times in each gameplay region according to its local time zone (PST for the Americas, CST for Europe, and KST for Asia). For console, the buff will start and end in all regions at the same time, listed above. For time zone assistance, click here.

As always with these sorts of Experience or Gold Find buffs, note that the buff adds on at the start and then gets exponentially boosted by your gear and the difficulty level. So on Torment 6 instead of the standard +1600% GF/EXP, you’ll get +3300% EXP. (Because double, plus 100%. At least 3300% is how it’s gone in the past with double exp buffs. I’m out of town visiting relatives over Xmas and can’t run D3 on my old laptop, so if it’s different this time someone please correct in comments.)

Not to complain about prezzies, since it’s the thought that counts, but… shouldn’t this be a buff to legendary drop rate, or double leg drops + goblins? After all, Xmas is largely about special presents that you get to unwrap, and what simulates that better in the Diablo 3 universe than unidentified legendary items? And what looks more like SANTA with his sack of loot than a DiabloWikiTreasure Goblins?

  1. Would have liked a drop buff more but it’s better than a kick in the teeth.

  2. kinda cheap buff would have been nice see a double goblin buff also maybe..

  3. Seriously? Who gives a shit about double exp?

  4. i would love to level up a season character to unlock the season transmorg but i do not have any more character slots because of muling.

so extra xp buffs never appealed to me.

  5. Leave it to Flux to complain about free buffs ;p

  6. I had been feeling a little ungrateful when my first thought was, 'why buff experience and not drop rates?!'….glad I wasn't alone! It just seems like the obvious choice…

  7. Echoing Flux and the agreers here: Nice to have a buff, but why not drops? This is like a nice sweater for Christmas. It’s still a sweater for Christmas! :-/

  8. Haven't bothered to log in for some weeks now , just want season 1 over . No way has this double xp buff in any way shape or form tempted me to log in ……

  9. guys theres a typo… sunday is the 28th… unless it goes through to the 29th… then yay 🙂 let me know

  10. I saw a bunch of people on the the Bnet forums complaining about this too, but I think it's more for people who might have gotten the game for Christmas than for the faithful who have been playing for a while.
