Diablo 2 Ladder Reset Incoming

Time to mark those diaries Diablo  2 players, the ladders will be reset in just over a week’s time.

It’s that time again! On the morning of Tuesday, November 6, we’ll be conducting maintenance in order to reset the Diablo II ladder. We anticipate the realms could be down for up to six hours, and during that time all existing ladder characters will be converted to non-ladder. All characters and items being converted to non-ladder will remain intact, but once converted these characters will no longer have access to ladder content such as creating ladder-only rune words.

This ladder reset, like all those before it, creates a clean slate where all ladder characters begin at level 1 with no previous items to help them. To participate, simply wait until the Diablo II realms return to service on November 6, log in to Battle.net, and tick the “Ladder Character” checkbox when creating a new character. You can track ladder character leveling progress by clicking on the Ladder button from the main Diablo II in-game Battle.net interface.

    1. Funny to think their still doing ladder resets in D2, but I guess they need to continue their old rep for having quality games somehow.

      • i actually agree on all 3 accounts – i,ll admit that 1.05 is ALOT better than the launch version. but skills and items still lack depth.

eg – i played some more inferno wizard yesterday with moderate equipment (mp3 worthy). and i noticed again how bland the signature skills of the wizard are.
eg spectral blade is c urrently better Electrocute(Arc Lighting) and Disintegrate(Entropy) – without really being different (aside from the dmg type which does not really matter anyway)

Magic Missile(Penetrating Blast) ,Shock Pulse(Piercing Orb) and Electrocute(Lighting Blast) are also doing pretty much the same thing with different sparkle effects >.<
if they design those runes to be so bland and similar it is not really hard to find out which is the best one.
they are not really making an effort at differentiating the purpose / synergy / application of skills. and that is the reason why there is no skill diversity and character identity.

oh yeah and maps, diablo 3 is no dungeon crawler- really
the closest thing to diablo 2 randomized dungeons is probably Kulles area and the Spider cave in Act1.

the rest is either not randomized at all, or has so little Map tile variation that they might aswell not be random.
i also think that maps could be bigger generally speaking.
eg sewers could be much more elaborate.

    2. Good to see Blizzard keeping busy with their old games but could care less about Diablo 2 now. 🙂
More fun online now with more challenge and much more skilloptions with a game that has improved more since launch in about 6/8 times the speed as it took for Diablo 2 to be finally improved upon massive flaws.

    3. Pretty sad that this is more exciting than anything that’s been done with Diablo 3.

They really failed to capture the magic.

    4. What a sad joke worldofdiablocraft is, pleased I quit on 1.0.5 and have not looked back since returning to D2.

How is it I get more enjoyment out of a 12 year old game than this joke that is diablo 3.

Open world PVP in d2 is still awsome, d3’s pvp will suck balls with \fair\ match making areans lol, d2 pvp was about having the best gear you could get \without a f*ucking AH!!!!!\ and pwning all those with lesser gear/skill.

Like to see how many of these d3 players would still have godly gear if they had to play the game or trade for it instead of buying it from flipping on the fail auction house.

Also no pking, one reason why d2 has lived so long and still does is you could jump into a of low or high levels and hunt the players for there ears, but nooooo we can’t have that in d3 it would be griefing and some retarded kids would cry on the fourms about it.

Fuc*k you blizzard and fu*ck you jay wilson your a joke, I hope one day you understand how bad of a rpg designer you are, Dave Brevik was right in everyword he said and you and your fail team.

The worst part about D3 ?
Everyone caring about how much there gear is worth in gold !!!! thats not what diablo is about !!!!

    5. Rant continued …….

All blizzard had to do was take d2 and give it a graphics make over, I think the only talent left at blizzard are the artists and would of done a great job.

But no, they had a goldon egg that all they had to do was give it a little make over and sell it and everone would of loved it, but nooooo they turned a goldon egg into a turd, thinking they could do better than the old team, what a bunch of deluded losers.

    6. finally, does anyone know if there is gonna be a new patch??! could be nice with some new runewords and or items!. ps D3 is dickcheese!!!

    7. I proudly quit Diablo 3 very very early, and started this ladder season on 2 and never looked back. Diablo 3 is the worst, most disappointing pile of crap I’ve ever had the displeasure of wasting money on.

    8. For me they busted something in D2. Somehow the game feels very laggy, ping is also quite high (>300) with spikes of 1000+ whenever I interact with something. Maybe they also outsourced the server park to some obscure shed in the middle of India.

Anyone else have that problem (Europe btw)

    9. I wonder if nearly as many people will be playing D3 in 12 years.

I played D2 off and on for the last 12 years and will likely play this ladder reset, if for nothing other than nostalgia.

D3 kept my interest for four solid months, during which time I was able to complete Inferno on Hardcore mode. My drive to play is completely gone and I haven’t played in weeks.

D2 had me hooked for at least 3+ years before I began taking breaks.
