Diablo 2 Ladder Reset

Good news for the Diablo 2 community. A ladder reset is acomin’. The day before Diablo 3’s 1 year anniversary Blizzard will reset the Diablo 2 Ladders.

It’s that time again! On the morning of Tuesday, May 14, we’ll be conducting maintenance in order to reset the Diablo II ladder. We anticipate the realms could be down for up to six hours, and during that time all existing ladder characters will be converted to non-ladder. All characters and items being converted to non-ladder will remain intact, but once converted these characters will no longer have access to ladder content such as creating ladder-only rune words.

This ladder reset, like all those before it, creates a clean slate where all ladder characters begin at level 1 with no previous items to help them. To participate, simply wait until the Diablo II realms return to service on May, log in to Battle.net, and tick the “Ladder Character” checkbox when creating a new character. You can track ladder character leveling progress by clicking on the Ladder button from the main Diablo II in-game Battle.net interface.

    1. Saw a random D2 screenie yesterday of a Baal dropping 2 random Uniques and it made me wanna play D2 again, gotta love it that it happened right before a ladder reset!

    2. Diablo2 battle.net is waste of time, becase there so much bots who have took over the game, so there no trade or challinge in this game anymore =S.

      • I played some D2 on Cattlenet this season and still found it enjoyable. There is botting and duping on D3, so no need to complain about D2. Diablo has always been primarily a single player game though for the best and most enjoyable experience. And I much prefer D2 over D3 for a number of reasons.

    3. Oh ya , Gonna rock that HC ladder again :).
Nothing beats D2 Hardcore experience , Adrenaline jumping like crazy everytime you open a door to a dark room.

    4. I think my main complaint w/ D3 is that it has utterly ruined D2 for me. The controls, stats, skill tree, TPPK, most of the items, bag/stash UI, ubiquitous bots/dupes, and potions are freaking awful. And yes, D3 has a lot of problems, but nothing compared to D2. D3 got worse when they tried to make it more like D2.

    5. Ladder resets/fresh realms won’t change much due to the massive amount of bots and dupes.

The real way to enjoy any ARPG it seems is self-found with friends or solo. Really enjoying this method in Torchlight 2, and when the itemization changes come to D3 I’ll hop back on for a solo-self found journey that will hopefully be more fun with better drops along the way.

    6. I’ve been playing the crap out of D2 lately. Not only is it extremely rewarding but it is very fun! Yes, there are botters, however, that has no effect on my ability to enjoy the game. I have been playing softcore and hardcore on the ladder and I’m so stoked for this reset! I low how effective farming and the builds are in Diablo 2, now that you can re-spec between difficulties it adds a lot of versatility to the game, but more importantly, a lot of playability, because its not just about getting to a respectable level to begin the build. What a fantastic game, cant wait for May 14!

    7. im a total newb when it comes to d2 on battle.net, but i am enjoying it though. Will enjoy it even more after the reset.

    8. servers down still? 3:15 cst, am getting an error about internet not working propely or my ports are open… was working fine last night, anyone know?
