Bumper Crop of Videos Showcasing Runed Skills

To give you a break from discussing all the changes announced earlier today what say we look at some pretty skills. These videos compile the different runes into single videos.

The DiabloWikiWizard starts us off with DiabloWikiWave of Force. In its basic form this explodes a wave of pure energy that repels projectiles and knocks back nearby enemies. This also slows the movement of enemies by 50% and deals 205% weapon damage as Physical.

The DiabloWikiBarbarian‘s DiabloWikiEarthquake initially shakes the ground violently, dealing 1200% weapon damage as Fire over 8 seconds to all enemies within 18 yards. Runes will alter it by adding ice, secondary tremors and knocking enemies back.

A firm favourite in the community since it was first revealed, here the Wizard demonstrates her DiabloWikiDisintegrate runed. Disintegrate unruned will thrust a beam of pure energy forward dealing 135%weapon damage per second as Arcane and disintegrating enemies it kills.

A DiabloWikiWitch Doctor summons DiabloWikiCorpse Spiders but you can’t really see what they go on to do – fire damage, spawn babies and jump for example – but you can see them materialise at least.

DiabloWikiBig Bad Voodoo is demonstrated by the Witch Doctor. This summons a fetish who does a cute ritual dance that increases the attack, casting and movement speeds of all allies in the area by 15% for 20 seconds.

The Wizard’s orbs are always a sight to behold and here she shows off her DiabloWikiArcane Orbs. Watch her hurl an orb of pure energy that explodes when it hits, dealing 225% weapon damage as Arcane to all enemies within 10 yards. The Alabaster and Crimson runes produce particularly nice orbs.

Now you’ve watched all those you can watch the wave of love washing over the Diablo 3 Progress Report.

    1. It’s sad how I enjoy these emulator videos so much more than anything “official” Blizzard gives us.

      • These are spoilers and done on a private server, they are not supposed to be released.

And majority of these skills have probably been revamped.

        • You can see the skills change with the patches. The visuals, at least. The art is pulled directly out of the game’s files, and there’s only one version of each rune. It gets updated/replaced when the patches are released.

    2. The graphics are god damn awful for these spells … I know its emulator but it can’t be much more different than this honestly …

      • Wave of Force, Disintegrate, Corpse Spiders, Arcane Orb…these haven’t changed. I don’t really see what you’re seeing I guess. They look fine to me? Is there something specific you don’t like?

        • looks like they took all of 2 seconds to create, which probably isn’t far off since they are unfinished and unpolished.

      • I think there are some really nice skill effects in this batch.  Arcane Orb in particular, especially with a Crimson or Alabaster rune popped in.

    3. In which twisted universe a jar is a better image than a corpse coming through the floor, vomiting or giving birth to spiders through its ribcage?

      • Blizzard’s universe of endless iteration, streamlining, simplification, and “fat trimming.” Sadly it seems there’s a noticeable degradation in the awesomeness of Diablo 3 that will continue through release… Just look at how subdued the explosion caused by Exploding Palm is compared to the original or the constant removal of key game features they claim are “not contributing enough”… My ass they weren’t. The Mystic’s enhancements were 10 times more interesting than the crappy gems.

    4. The corpse spiders are clearly not the way they are supposed to be in the real game… Also, I doubt that the indigo and alabaster earthquakes are supposed to look identical…

    5. These videos really need to be redone. After putting the rune into the socket, hover over the skill for a few seconds, so the effect can be read and then seen. The way these are done is very confusing as to what is being looked at.
In corpse spiders, every cast looked identical.
