With BlizzCon just around the corner, Blizzard is dishing out more info on the panels and they’ve released details for the ‘Sounds of Sanctuary’ panel which starts at 12:30 PM on Friday 22nd October. There will be a good Blizzard developer turn-out and the Diablo 3 music will be played live by special guest guitarist and two-time Grammy winner Laurence Juber. • Kris Giampa, Senior Sound Designer
  • Michael Johnson, Senior Sound Designer
  • Glenn Stafford, Senior Composer
  • Derek Duke,  Senior Composer
  • Andrea Toyias, Casting & VO Director

      • If you were the only one then they wouldn’t bother doing the panel. I am for sure going to this one and I hope to ask a question if at all possible.

        • There’s almost never any videos when Blizzard has these panels (before the live official webcast thing at any rate) and when there are, there’s very few asses in seats. People tend to overlook the sound design and don’t seem to care about it.

The coolest special features I’ve ever seen on CE discs, hands-down, is the sound specials where you can see them actually creating new sounds for games with materials in a studio. It’s absolutely amazing to see, but regrettably, also just as rare.

      • Ever since I checked out all the areas in the beta (especially the Festering Woods) I’m excited about this panel as well. 🙂

      • if there’s one consistent agreement coming from the beta testers it’s how awesome the sound is…i’m an “aural” sort of fellow so i’m totally excited for this panel!

    1. I wish I could go to this one just so I could ask them why they didn’t just get the original Tyrael voice actor to come do his lines later since they “had to replace him due to some scheduling conflict” and yet they’ve had to delay the game so it seems to me they still have plenty of time to do some VO recording…
