Blizzard survey Diablo 3 players on Reaper of Souls pricing and features

This evening Blizzard has been sending emails to select Diablo 3 players inviting them to take part in a Reaper of Souls survey which poses numerous questions such as what games you play (Blizzard or other) and importance of specific features in the expansion including:

Blizzard also asks survey participants to rank these in order of importance in the survey, Rank #1 being the most important to 8 being the least important to you from that list.

An interesting question covers the price point. Blizzard are looking to price the Standard Edition at $29.99 and a Collector’s Edition at $49.99, but which would you be more interested in buying?

Thanks to Tim over on IncGamers who took the survey this evening and also fmulder for being on the ball as usual.

  1. 1. New loot system
    2. New act of content
    3. Nephalem trials
    4. Loot Runs
    5. New Crusader playable character class
    6. New Paragon level and point system
    7. Raises maximum character level to 70
    8. Gear transmogrification

  2. I figured it would be 40 bones and I think they are smart trying to reel us in for multiple expansions on a not so perfect game.

I’d rank the loot and end game type stuff highest (trials and runs).

  3. 1-New loot system
    2-Loot Runs
    3-Nephalem trials
    4-New Crusader playable character class
5-New Paragon level and point system
    6-New act of content
7-Raises maximum character level to 70
    8-Gear transmogrification

This would be my list , I think loot should be on top because it is the most broken feature now , Trials and Loot runs are new so they are both interchangeable and we don’t know which is better and more exciting because we know nothing about them.

    • Damn where is the Edit button 🙁 I wanted to say that the price seems fair for an expansion pack, maybe make some kind of discount for accounts that have many hours logged in D3 or for the ones that stuck with the game when it was abandoned by most players.

  4. 1. New loot system – How can this not be the most important thing? This one single thing will completely overhaul the entire game. White items that actually matter? Build changing affixes and legendary items? New and (hopefully) exciting crafting options? Possibly new currency items in lieu of AH removal for game currency.

    2. New Paragon level and point system – All characters feel the same. I have a feeling they won’t push the envelope enough and characters will continue to all be very similar, however, this is something that CAN drastically improve the game if done right. Hint, the way they are currently thinking about doing it, 1 point / tree / level, is not going to change much. Unlimited, free respecs are also lame.

    3. Loot runs – Possibly the best new form of end game content.

    4. Nephalem trials – This will hopefully tie into Loot Runs somehow, such as an increased chance for finding the Loot Run reagents.

    5. New Crusader playable character class – Looks fun. I enjoyed the Paladin in D2.

    6. Gear transmogrification – If only we could dye legendary items now

    7. Raises maximum character level to 70 – This is only important because the new items will require level 70. This feels like a WoW mechanic being pushed onto us. The only thing this will do is act as a gear reset.

    8. New Act Content – I dunno man… Act IV was so terrible. We play the same few zones in each act over and over and over. I am REALLY skeptical about the new act content.

  5. You shall not make for yourself an image in the form of anything in heaven above or on the earth beneath or in the waters below. 5 You shall not bow down to them or worship them; for I, the Lord your God, am a jealous God, punishing the children for the sin of the parents to the third and fourth generation of those who hate me, 6 but showing love to a thousand generations of those who love me and keep my commandments.

You shall enjoy the new loot system
    You shall do Loot Runs
You shall enjoy the new Crusader playable character class
You shall enjoy the new act of content
You shall have raised maximum character level to 70
You shall like the new Paragon level and point system
    You shall use nephalem trials
    You shall have gear transmogrification

When the people saw the thunder and lightning and heard the trumpet and saw the mountain in smoke, they trembled with fear. They stayed at a distance 19 and said to Moses, “Speak to us yourself and we will listen. But do not have God speak to us or we will die.

  6. New loot system
New Paragon level and point system
    New act of content
    Loot Runs
    New Crusader playable character class
    Nephalem trials
    Gear transmogrification
Raises maximum character level to 70

    in this order

  7. I’m curious about the system Blizzard used to select the accounts for the survey and whether they will slowly open this survey up to more participants.

As for the price, it seems fair to me. Although $25 would be a little more appealing. Any chance they will drop the price for Diablo 3 Classic when Reaper of Souls comes out? I’m not sure if I will get the Collector’s Edition. It kind of depends on what is included with it. I didn’t get the Collector’s Edition the first time around and have regretted it in hindsight.

In regards to new game features, I am much more interested in the new loot system and the two new types of runs. Although I am looking forward to playing as the Crusader and the new Act V, the new loot system trumps all. I think much of the community feels the same. Here’s my list:

    1. New Loot System
2 and 3. Loot Runs and Nephalem Trials
    4. New Paragon Level and Point System
    5. Crusader Class
    6. New Act of Content
    7. Raise Level Cap to 70
    8. Gear Transmogrification

  8. 1. Crusader Class
    2. New Loot System
    3. Loot Runs
    4. New Paragon Level and Point System
    5. New Act of Content
    6. Raise Level Cap to 70
    7. Nephalem Trials
    8. Gear Transmogrification

To me the most important things are new classes and a perfect looting/item system, but all of them are nice, of course.

About price, 30-40 dollares seems alright, but i would DEF pick a CE if they offer a digital version.

  9. 1. New loot system
    2. New Act of Content
    3. New Crusader playable character class
    4. New Paragon level and point system
    5. Loot Runs
    6. Nephalem trials
    7. Raises maximum character level to 70
    8. Gear transmogrification

  10. 1. New loot system
    2. New Paragon system
    3. New act of content
    4. Nephalem Trials
    5. New Crusader class
    6. Gear transmog
    7. Loot runs
    8. Max level raised to 70

With the exception of number 1, this was tough. All of those things are pretty important to me.

  11. 1. New act of content
    2. New Crusader playable character class
    3. New Paragon level and point system
    4. Nephalem trials
    5. Gear transmogrification
    6. New loot system
    7. Loot Runs
    8. Raises maximum character level to 70

The reason i put it all in that order is because i only play HC and think the AH should stay! (maybe i will change the order when i find out what will be replacing the AH)

  12. 1) New loot system/build changing legendary’s – loot is one of the biggest factors in a “loot based game” and how it changes our characters
    2) loot runs – because I think having randomized unique dungeons is part of the longevity
    3) nephalem trials – similar idea
    4) paragon point system – because its another step into customization for our characters
    5) characters class
    6) new act
    7) transmogrification

  13. I value them as equally important except the transmog feature!

  14. 1. Act V
As long as it’s as long or longer than Act III. More monsters and environments will increase replayability.

    2. Crusader class
Another class to enjoy and experiment with.

    3. Max level 70
    More skills, runes and passives.

    4. Loot runs
Random environments and monster selection. Will break up the monotony of playing through all the acts over and over again.

    5. Nephalem trials
More stuff to break up the monotony of questing.

    6. New paragon system
    Shared paragon sounds good.

    7. Transmogrification
As somebody who likes my hero to look like a boss, I’m digging this feature.

    8. Loot 2.0
As a console D3 player I already have Loot 2.0.

  15. 1. New act of content
    2. New loot system
    3. Loot Runs
    4. New Crusader playable character class
    5. Nephalem trials
    7. Raises maximum character level to 70
    6. New Paragon level and point system
    8. Gear transmogrification

If there is a collectors edition, then I will buy it.

  16. They are equally important to me except transmog…

  17. Should be free to anyone who bought the game already.

    • I hate it when people say this , why should something be free ?

You are getting a free patch with Loot/Paragon 2.0 and many features and if you put more than 100 hours in the game I think you already got your money worth from the game.

      • I’m sure the AH profits could foot the bill.

      • and I hate people like you, who advocate blizzard. The game still has no PvP. Feature that was promised and might be considered as a key feature.

Btw we are not getting free patch, we are getting something that is repairing the incompetetivness of the first Diablo 3 team with JW as its arrogant head.

Loot is still bad, the dps tied to weapon is the root of it. 1-6 affixes slots is booring system, generally speaking loots is made booring and easy to tweak for devs but not fun to play for players.

Paragon is the missing spirit of developing your character, a thing JW team missed too. How much is a game RPG when my character shows accoutn name instead of his, think about it for a second.

I dont really want free things, but I am not going to pay for things that should be there for the first time and I will certainly not glorify blizzard for bringing band aids now (thats right the new loots and para still doesnt look very fun.

Sorry for the mistakes, typed this in a hurry.

        • Pvp a key feature for a game like diablo… Are you kidding me 🙁

          • I not only want my money refunded for the failure that is Diablo 3. I want money for being an alpha tester for Diablo 3 plus bnet 2.0 plus AH. Furthermore the players should be granted money for the psychical and physical pain of going through Error 37 and all the other time-killers like lag in hardcore. Last, they should also pay people money who volunteer to test RoS and give feedback, as Blizzard obviously has forgotten how to create a good Diablo game.
With all this feedback they can go any try a new Diablo game which might not suck so much like this piece of excrement.

          • why would he be kidding ?
Blizzard North were big fans of PvP
            and even pking
they thought pking was a great part of the game
they thought it went with the atmosphere of danger lurking around every corner, that you could die at any second

and PvP was hyped up and promised for D3

if Blizzard hadn’t made such a big deal about it then we wouldn’t be upset

      • Are you really okay with them blatantly cutting content out of the game in early development and selling it to you in a $30 box?

Are you really such a naive, drooling fanboy?

    • D2-LoD wasn’t free!
This expansion might not have as much as LoD, but it still doesn’t change the fact!
Buy a boxed copy rather than on-line, then you will be getting more for your $

  18. Yeah no thanks $30+ for an expansion that only adds $20 in content. But I’m sure some suckers will pay that high price

  19. 1. New loot system aka Loot 2.0
    2. Loot Runs
    3. New act of content
    4. New Crusader playable character class
    5. New Paragon level and point system
    6. Nephalem trials
    7. Raises maximum character level to 70
    8. Gear transmogrification

Depends whats inside collectors edition box, right now its just maybe. Never know. The pricing tho will be like 40€ in EU.

  20. 1) New loot system
    2) Loot Runs
    3) Nephalem Trials
    4) New Paragon level and point system
    5) New act of content
    6) New Crusader playable character class
    7) Raises maximum character level to 70
    8) Gear Transmogrification

  21. They haven’t got the slightest of clues to share about when the expansion might be released or what gameplay elements it may contain – BUT they definitely do already know how much they’re going to charge for it down to the last penny? Ooooookay …

  23. 1) New loot system.
    2) Newly refined skills & runes*.
    3) New pacing, normal aka grandma mode needs to be removed from the start*.
    4) New Crusader playable character class.
    5) Gear Transmogrification.
    6) Nephalem Trials.
    7) New Paragon level and point system (Paragon 2.0).
    8) Loot Runs.
    9) New act of content.
    8) Raises maximum character level to 70.

    * Added because they’ve missed it out and I feel Blizz need to look at the unused skills and runes and revamp them completely and also refine the pacing of normal mode etc in comparison to inferno.

Would suggest pricing a bit cheaper e.g. £20 rather than 30 simply because this stuff should have been in the game in the first place, and we’re getting part of it for free.

They really need to nail the loot system this time round, no more MMO crap, proper drops please :D.

  24. 1.New Act of Content
    2.New Loot System
    3.New Crusader Class
    4.Gear Transmogrification
    5.level cap of 70
    6.Loot Runs
    7.Nephalem Trials
8.New Paragon Level system (Yes it’s a form of customization, but it is only accessible late game, and only if that is your play Style. There needs to be a customization system (in addition to this one) that you get right out the gate so its useful for everyone, or for those who play for Story)

$30 for RoS? lulz..overpriced, IMO. anyway, i think RoS should be $10 max as a goodwill gesture for players who gullibly paid full price for an extended beta test and then further developed the game for blizz after their initial design fell apart like a wet paper bag. blizz could learn something from rockstar's PR move to make up for the problems of gta online:
    gta v stimulus package
  26. Don’t really care what the price is.
If it is a good expansion I’ll buy it regardless if it was $10 or $60.
If it isn’t a good expansion then having a lower price wont magically turn it better anyway. Though I’ll probably buy it even if it is bad, in some naive hope that Blizzard couldn’t fail twice.

  27. If it is “$30” there’s a good chance the price will increase in Australia when it’s released, where I live… (Games are always more expensive in Aus)The last expansion of WoW costs $30 – $40 in the USA, it costs $60 here, so we Aussies are gonna get over-priced whatever the cost is in the USA. -_-
    (I’m still buying it though 😛 )
