Blizzard on Diablo 3 PTR and Reaper of Souls Beta Known Issues

The Diablo 3 Patch 2.0 came to the PTR this weekend with the delightful “load testing” that has now been completed. The Patch on the PTR is the future of Diablo 3, but it’s not Reaper of Souls, a distinction that was confusing to many, to judge by all of the “why can’t I play a Crusader/level to 70?” questions that appeared on the forums. We linked it last week, but do look over Blizzard’s FAQ on the contents of the PTR vs. RoS. (Though it’s a bit confusing, with talk about level 70 items and monsters in the PTR section.)

The PTR has Cursed Chests, but the biggest change comes from the new difficulty system, the new Paragon 2.0 system, plus Loot 2.0, which includes changes to drop rates and lots of legendaries with new orange text properties. The PTR also includes lots of crafted items with a level 61 requirement, because bug. Features you will not find in the PTR, and will need to obtain Reaper of Souls to experience, include the level cap raised to 70, one new skill for all five classes, and the Crusader. Also not included in the PTR is DiabloWikiAdventure Mode and DiabloWikiNephalem Rifts, which has caused confusion and distress.

So what’s going on with the PTR? Here’s the official list of Diablo 3 PTR known issues:

Please note that documented bugs may not always be fixed in the order in which they were reported. In some cases, we may not have a timeline for a when a bug will be fixed and some bugs may not be able to be fixed at all. If we are able to verify that a documented bug cannot be fixed, it will be removed from this list.

Thank you for your continued reports, and welcome to the Diablo III 2.0.1 PTR.

  • To correct an issue with crafting that was causing a server crash, a hotfix was implemented to alter certain crafting recipes. As a result, some recipes may consume the crafting materials used and not create an item. We hope to have this resolved in a future PTR patch (See the reply below for more information).
  • Monsters

  • Death Maidens can spawn in Nephalem Rifts in large numbers, potentially leading to performance degradation.
  • Mac

  • Reaper of Souls/Diablo III Patch 2.0.0 cannot be played on Mac systems with 2GB of RAM or lower.
  • The number of buggy bounties has been steadily decreasing since the beta began. Initially it was folly to run Act V bounties since you’d usually get one buggy one (usually it just wouldn’t appear) which prevented you from finishing all five and earning the Goodie Bag reward. They mostly work now, making Act Five a feasible, if not especially wise (because many of the areas are huge and very slow to run bounties in) option in Adventure Mode.

    1. I knew that whole “level 61 drops not being equippable” thing seemed fishy.

    2. I still hope we’ll get Adventure Mode, even if without Bounties and Rifts. I hate quitting a game just to switch Acts.

      • Not only that, the “All Acts/Any Quest” thing never saves. If you set up “Any Quest” and hit Save and Close, then go back, it’s still stuck on the last quest you were in. The old selector was smarter than that (it would always keep “Any Quest” option as the last one you selected). That alone would help most people out.

    3. The Patch on the PTR is the future of Diablo 3, but it’s not Reaper of Souls, a distinction that was confusing to many … lol so manny idiots , nagging and raging as they do , they can not even read a patch note … waaaaaaaaaaaahahahahhahahaha

    4. Yeah agreed HardRock – just posted a feedback post on the PTR forum and this was one of the points. Without the old difficulty progression, it just feels like you’re left hanging when you finish the game the first time – there’s no obvious thing to do next, and you’re only level 38 or so…

    5. What about all the excessive loading screens? These are new to the PC release. I speculate that they were added as a result of the console development, but they really shouldn’t be a part of the PC builds.

    6. 2.01 D3V needs Torment difficulty. It’s the only way to offer a better challenge. Master is closer to MP5, which doesn’t cut it for most people. Remove the lvl 70 requirement and roll it into D3V.

    7. So what’s the difference between a clan and a community anyway?

    8. On PTR I have a problem with “A royal audience” quest in act2, I cannot get out of the sewers-move to next area.(if I recall correctly next area is where I meet Adria for the 1st time)
