Beta Patch 8, Patchnotes + RMAH Temporarily Disabled

Diablo 3 Beta Patch 8 NotesBeta Patch 7 has been rolled out and is now live.

Moments after the patch went live the, RMAH had to be disabled due to big issues:

We’ve temporarily disabled the currency-based auction house in order to resolve an issue affecting successful bids and buyouts. We don’t have an ETA at this time for when the AH will be back online, but we anticipate at least a few hours of downtime.

We apologize for the inconvenience and will provide updates as they become available. Thank you for your patience in the meantime!

It is evident that the new Auction House system is a massive undertaking for Blizzard, and as one would expect in a large undertaking it is getting its fair share of issues.

Patch 7 Notes:

  1. Kind of happy to see Decoy gone. After its duration was nerfed, it didn’t serve its purpose at all. Looking forward to checking out the new spell once I’m able to log on to the servers.

  2. This is actually patch 8, not 7. Also, there were several graphical changes not only to the options menu, but when logging in and during verification.

  3. I keep thinking the RMAH is going to be the biggest blunder ever

    • Well, with things like this:
“Players will now see recommended items for their active character when accessing the auction house Search tab.”
Directing players to what they should buy, the RMAH might give us some false positives, at first.  Though, I hope, in time, you are proved correct.  The only thing that I would buy there would be complex tool tips  😛  Though, I’m sure that Blizz would make me buy them one at a time.

  4. I really like the sound of the skill they added when they took out Decoy (although at least in beta, it was always fun to run into the middle of a crowd, cast it, and know it’s going to go off before anything can really hurt me).   Also, I like the sound of the kind of tweaking they’re doing at this point to everything else.  Changing #’s slightly or order which skills unlock are much smaller changes than we’ve been seeing, which means we’re at least closing in on what the skills will really look like when it’s released (regardless of them still having to work out things like runes).

  5. “Baby Quill demon health increased from 1% to 25% of normal Quill Beast health (they grow up so fast)” lol :p

  6. I’m happy they removed Lethal Decoy. Before the change it didnt fit into the melee style of the monk, after the change the basic non-monk-fitting idea of the skill was completely gone. So the skill had to go. Good that Blizzard realized that. The new skill sounds very interesting, maybe even to good for PvP?

    1. Dash

    2. hit enemy in melee to do damage and fill your spirit globe

    3. hit enemy with Cyclone Strike

    4. repeat 1-3
The new skill description really fits into the style of the monk. Without having it seen in action, I could see myself use it.

  7. Just played around with the new Cyclone Strike skill.  REALLY satisfying!  I was lucky enough to get the Jar of Souls event, and man, was it a blast gathering a ton of skeletons around me and then casting that.  They ‘zoom’ immediately to you, and then explode back outward in a blast of light.  It does quite a bit of damage — most things died in one boom.  Downside is that it costs a lot of spirit, but it seemed balanced well.  Every time I tried to save up enough spirit for it, my life was getting juuuust low enough where I was starting to worry.

    Felt great!

  8. I’m disappointed the WD did not get any love, especially after the ill received animations from RR’s videos

  9. The demon hunter seems to lack that kind of skill tho? I havent played beta or anything before, but from reading the skill pages, demon hunter dont have that kind of “satisfying” big-bang-EOA skill. Or well, not that i can see.

Wished the title would just say “Beta Patch 8, Patchnotes + RMAH PERMANENTLY Disabled”…… would mean we will get the game soon.

  10. Sweeping Wind at full stacks + Dashing Strike + Cyclone Strike = Win

Honestly though, I’m kind of sad to see lethal decoy go, but it would have been better as the original more decoyish form… Considering that the monk has both the least amount of active skills and the least amount of passive skills they should’ve had both skills in.

    • I agree, I wasn’t at all surprised to see a new Monk skill added, but when I saw Decoy was gone I was a bit shocked. I get that the new version didn’t feel right, but I thought the version when beta began was solid.

  11. Just gotta say, this is some proof the game still needs more work in its current state. Its clear the game is neither:
    A) Ready to be shipped; they’re waiting for the right time to release
    B) Held up exclusively by regulations in particular Asian markets
All that, and Bashiok essentially confirmed the above two reasons.

  12. I think the fact that they’re tweaking monster hp proves that they need a beta of the entire game.

    But what do I know.

  13. I liked Mantas when they costed no Spirit, so that you could use them before battle (before having spirit). In higher levels I can understand most monks will have at least a little constant spirit buildup from items, so hopefully they’d have at least 25 before encountering a mob.

However this isn’t going to get me to use them more often. That’s their goal, and it won’t work. I’m going to gather 25 spirit to use my mantra once, then every other instance of me spending spirit will be used on more important skills, like damaging skills.

  14. On one hand, I am happy to see no changes to the Witch Doctor(it means that class it more pout-together), on the other hand, I am saddened by no changes to the Witch Doctor. ?_?
