D163, Blizzard’s official Chinese service provider, is running a series of splash images building up to the official reveal (?) of Diablo 3: Reaper of Souls at Gamescom. The images are still running, but with #7 and #8 several of the Archangels in the Angiris Council are visible, along with Black Soulstone hovering overhead.
This is all reminiscent of the series of “breaking through the ice” images we saw back in June 2008, prior to Diablo 3’s reveal at Blizzard’s Paris WWI event. (Though these are much less mysterious and not filled with hidden clues and weird purple walruses.) If you want to relive those wild days, check out our retrospective article with all the images and explanations for the hidden easter eggs.
Click through to see all the images in sequence, but I warn you, it’s a fiery hole in parchment, slowly getting bigger until Image #7 finally shows some glimpse of the Angels.
Image #1: Tiny hole.
Image #2: Small hole.
Image #3: Small hole and a minuscule hole.
Image #4: The fire spreads wider.
Image #5: Medium hole and small hole.
Image #6: Medium hole, small hole and minuscule hole.
Image #7: Angels visible with Black Soulstone overhead.
Image #8: Angels still there, Black Soulstone vanished upwards?
Well, I told it was a hole getting bigger didn’t I?
