Activision/Blizzard Investors’ Presentation

We’ve been covering Activision/Blizzard’s quarterly financial report conference calls for the past few years, and occasionally learning something interesting. There were high hopes for a Beta start date during the last one in early August, but we just got the “3rd quarter” window again.

It hasn’t been anywhere near three months since that last one, but they’ve got another extra-long one scheduled for next week.

SANTA MONICA, Calif., Aug. 23, 2011 /PRNewswire/ — Activision Blizzard, Inc. (Nasdaq:ATVI – News) today announced that members of senior management, including Robert Kotick, CEO of Activision Blizzard, Inc., will be giving a corporate presentation at its analyst day event on Thursday, September 1, 2011 from approximately 9:15am Pacific Time to 1:00pm Pacific Time.

The presentation will be broadcast over the Internet. To access the webcast, please log on to

Life is way too short to listen to 3.5 hours of Activision financial disclosures and DiabloWikiBobby Kotick pep talks — the 45m versions we get during the quarterly conference calls are hard enough to sit through — but I suppose it’s at least theoretically possible that we might get some news about the DiabloWikiDiablo III beta during this presentation. Anyone can listen in via the live stream, once you register an account on the Activision investor’s site, so we’ll find out soon enough.

  1. I want to get excited… but after being let down so many times on a REAL beta announcement, I’ll just sit this one out 🙂

  2. I thought the last conference call was pretty interesting.  However, it was my first time actually listening to one.  I could see how it would get dull after a while.  If they said no beta till September, it’d be plausible that they’d announce the start date on a Sep. 1st call.  Lookin forward to it.

  3. Blizzard to announce that now that they’ve thought about the online-only aspect some more, they’re just going to bite the bullet and make it a Facebook game.

Also Flux, isn’t it time for another Caption This?

  4. I doubt they’ll mention it. They’re so tight lipped about everything and so keen on not setting anything in stone the best you’ll probably hear is Kotick say, “And we will have the Diablo III beta…soon.” Then again, are they required to give exact time lines during these things since they are investors and not lowly customers who actually play their games?

  5. I dunno. Activision has a lot going on right now and I wouldn’t be surprised if it was focused around CoD or other activision properties.

  6. Is there going to be another live chat?
And is there anything else Blizzard/Activision related happening this fall to prompt an extra conference?  MW3 perhaps?

  7. It’ll be an epic fail if they move beta to the 4th quarter… I hope this won’t happen.

  8. If Diablo 3 beta was going to be announced, Mikey would be there to make such a huge announcement, not Bobby.
I see no mention of any Blizzard representatives at all taking part in this, so I’m 99.99999999999999999999999999999999999999% sure they won’t make the announcement here.

  9. COD XP (MW3 multiplayer event) is september 2nd and 3rd i believe, so my money is that its more focused on that
