2000 Diablo 3 Beta Keys Sweepstakes

Hot on the heels of our article earlier about the Beta test, Blizzard has posted a 2000 key Beta key sweepstake.

Starting October 17, we’ll be randomly selecting 200 winners each week to receive a key to our exclusive Diablo III beta test. In addition, every fourth winner chosen will receive a second key to share with a friend! Drawings will occur every Monday for eight weeks for a total 2,000 keys.

Interested? Good! Signing up is easy. Simply follow Diablo on Facebook and complete our official entry form between now and December 12 for your chance to win. For more information about how to participate, check out the sweepstakes rules and eligibility page. Good luck!

Thanks Andreas.

Update: As mentioned by several people in comments, you may enter the contest without using Facebook.

    1. Great, and i havent a account on that site..

Ohh wait, that means also, that the beta test take now more than 9 weeks.
A very short beta test seems to me different…any wrong with the ongoing development?

      • well 8 weeks takes us to Dec 5
and they announced awhile ago that the game isn’t coming out till “early 2012”
so yeah, the beta is going to take more than 9 weeks

I just don’t get why they have to run a facebook contest to give away keys

they can’t possibly be doing it because they need the publicity
and surely more than 2000 people have already signed up for the beta opt in, so it can’t be that they lack willing participants

        • The contest is clearly just a marketing thing. I’m guessing that they still will be inviting more people through beta opt-in. At least the contest makes people who has no battle.net account or no games on that account eligible.

        • More than 2000 seems about right, seeing that their page has 1.2 Mio likes.
I’m playing the lottery every week, I’m used to extreme odds.

    2. I made the mistake of complaining before reading the rules–there is a website for non fb people. 🙂

    3. I don’t want to be ungrateful but will. 2000 keys? Really. We all have a better chance of getting struck by lighting.

    4. Does any of you know if they actually care if you are “eligible” or not ? For example can I still win if I am not in the areas listed in the Official Rules ?

      • I just said I was from the UK. It said my entry was accepted, so evidently they aren’t checking against the country you said you live in for facebook.

You probably won’t win one of the keys anyway, but I figure there’s no harm in entering with a fake country. It’s not like they can sue you – the worst that will happen is you won’t be eligible to win.

        • Yea I figured they wouldn’t check at subscription. Obviously the more information they get the better. I don’t know if Facebook gets hold of that information submitted by the subscription form. I would like to avoid that, especially if I have absolutely no chance of winning a beta key.

    5. meh I first thought it was 2000 keys per week… would have been too nice ^^
I guess they’ll still be doing opt-ins then, it’s always nice to have this as further chance to win.

    6. It says people from the netherlands are not eligible either!!! !!! Discrimination! I feel a case coming up at the international criminal court in the hague. Good thing we at least have that here!!! MWUHAHA … grrr

    7. So now I can get disappointed every Monday ’till December?  At least Skyrim will be out by then and maybe TL2.

    8. Trade all of my personal FB info including friends, addresses, phone numbers, etc, etc. for absurdly low odds of actually winning a spot in the beta? No thanks. Blizzard is getting millions of peoples’ personal information for free by doing what they do best these days – dangling a carrot in front of them. I miss the days when games were just games. 😐 Looking forward to Skyrim and even further out: Borderlands 2.

      • I don’t use FB, but…people put their address and phone numbers on facebook? For what? That is just stupid.

      • The only info you need to give them is name, country, state if applicable, and email address… They don’t check entries against facebook accounts, if they did there wouldn’t be an alternate entry method… Stop being so melodramatic… 🙄

    9. I wonder if they will cross check the email you put into the fb sign in to the b.net opt in page and if they did i hope they dont cancel one another out O_O I WILL BE DEVASATE……well more than i am already, i mean come on its blizz 😉

    10. I already signed up for the beta and they want me to do extra to play content i’ve already seen a million times on youtube???  No thank you, i’m good.  I’m already tired of reading the articles posted by many a media site on the little content there is.  I want the game not this crap…

    11. So let me try to understand this… Blizzard made all that fuzz about WoW Brasil and blablabla and now brazilian people are not even eligible for the beta prize? Seriously, WTF?!?!?!?!??!
Not only that, but Argentina IS eligible for the prize and not Brazil, so its not a matter of regional problems.
Seriously Blizzard… Whats wrong with your retarded employers?

PS: I wish I could say that in the official forums but my wow account is frozen and I can’t post there anymore. Not going to play anymore a game that its clearly going through the real money road bullshit. Not even 15 dollars fees stops Blizzard from trying to squeeze every cent of the players. Fuck that!!

      • Most of the countries excluded have laws against raffles, lotteries, gambling etc. This is likely the case with Brazil as well. So quit whining and start voting for the right people.

        • I wish it was for that reasons, but its not, and the beta has no RMAH, only gold auction house.
The only reason right now is Blizzard’s complete retardness.

          • Thinking again, Brazil has some laws preventing companies to freely open those types of contests (or similar process) unless they register those contests first, but AFAIK this is only necessary when the company is trying to make some profit out of the contest, idk…
Anyway, I don’t even know why am I so interested in beta, I’m not even buying D3 anymore LOL. I just realized I was trowing my life in the trash can by spending too much time playing games, especially those that try to suck your pocket dry.

            • By all means, please uncheck the Diablo option on your B.Net beta profile.  We won’t miss you, enjoy (not) playing D3 when it comes out……  (yeah right!)

    12. Whatever happened to the promised 1000 beta key winners at last years Blizzcon? I haven’t heard any word about it, nor have I heard from any winners.

As far as I know, Blizzard just forgot about the whole deal…

    13. Only residents of Italy, United Kingdom, Croatia, Mexico, United States, Bulgaria, Switzerland, France, Czech Republic, Taiwan, Belgium, Belarus, Luxembourg, Ukraine, Sweden, Russian Federation, Argentina, Finland, Ireland, Austria, Norway, Canada, Spain, Poland, Germany, Turkey, Serbia and Hungary are eligible to enter this Sweepstakes
      what a bummer..!!!

    14. 8 weeks, 200 keys per week, 2000 total … someone fails at math.

only about 5000 people signed up so far, i guess i’m early. i wonder what the total amount will get up to and if the odds will get to near zero or not.

      • 2,000 keys total.

        Don’t forget, each fourth key gifted comes with another key “for a friend.” So, 8 X 200 = 1600/4 (per every fourth key) = 400 + 1600 = 2,000.

        2,000 keys total: check.

          • Right in the blue post that takes up the majority of this article:

“In addition, every fourth winner chosen will receive a second key to share with a friend! Drawings will occur every Monday for eight weeks for a total 2,000 keys.”

Maybe you should pay more attention to the quotes next time… 😐

          • you can also look in contest rules which everyone should read.
            under official rules:
            5. Prizes. Each Tuesday during the Contest, Sponsor shall randomly select One Hundred Fifty (150) qualified entrants who will receive one (1) Diablo III Beta Test Key, and fifty (50) qualified entrants who will receive two (2) Diablo III Beta Test Keys.

      • I hate those crappy apps requesting permission to search your entire profile. Last time that I used one they fucking posted the result in my wall and they didn’t warned me they would do that.

      • There is nothing in the official rules about needing to “Like” Diablo or anything else on facebook.

    15. If you have a a facebook account be sure to sign out of it before you use the alternate method of entry. Then do not revisit the link after you sign back onto FB; it will ask you to confirm your entry and voila, you have given acces to your profile.

    16. sweet I already liked D3 FB long before announcement of beta and now there’s a good reason. hell their twitter was more updated than the FB page.

    17. Just make up stuff if your worried about real info been given out & make up your country…  Not a big deal…

    18. Eh.   I signed up.  Screw it.  Just a bunch’a bar friends anyway.  But those same bar friends pulled me away from WoW.  So, gotta give’em props for that.

    19. Had 5 emails in my inbox today, loaded it up- saw an email from blizz, hope rose and then “WoW winged mount”. I almost snapped my laptop in half

    20. “Thanks for your entry. Now tell your friends so they have a chance to win too!”

No! Only an idiot would do that.

    21. Fuck me dead. Australians get screwed over yet-a-fucken-again…

I was going to work my ass off on getting banned on the Blizz forums about this, until I learned it had something to do with the laws here. Man I am getting sick of the cunts in power in this country…

    22. Hello. the e-mail we write when we re signing up for sweeptakes on facebook, should it be any random e-mail or our very e-mail address our blizzard games ar attached to ?

      • Probably best to use the one for your battle.net account, but I don’t think it really matters…

    23. Not surprised not seeing the Netherlands in that list, we can never enter in any sweepstake for some reason.

Good luck to the rest of you!

    24. Never seen so much bitchin in my life. Seriously. I begin to consider the plausibility of the theory that there is really nothing wrong with blizzard, its the ….

    25. I told my friend to opt in to d3 beta and guess who gets the invite and not me…lol. But i dont really care any more, D3 beta is only maximum 2hours of content per char… thats terrible. Plus I just got in to SWToR beta, should eat up way more time.

    26. Not all country’s are included for this selection. I per example live in the Netherlands, which is excluded. Might be a ‘thing’ to add to the description to prevent the hype and after the disappointment 🙁

of course every damn thing they do will be for marketing purposes to make more revenue for Blizzard.
Business is Business Money is Money, the more the better. 8)

    27. I’m from the Netherlands, but what if you do it without facebook and tell them you’re from Germany or whatever.
      At least I did that.

    28. Great. So even those lame hipster kids who haven’t even played a single Blizzard game nor have a Battle.net account can now get into the beta making it impossibly harder for us, the hardcore Diablo fans to get into beta.

      Ah, life is unfair.

    29. excuse my language but this is fucking stupid, i dont use facebook nor will i ever, and non of the sites that say non FB sign up work …..way to go blizzard .
