hese are the new quests in Hellfire.   You will be able to access the first {Lester the Farmer/Mad Cow} when your character has reached a level 15 or higher.  To do this start the normal Diablo quests.  When you reach character level 15 start the new Hellfire ones and after those continue with the remainder of the original quests finishing with killing Diablo.

Lester The Farmer
This quest is available as soon as you have cleared out the catacombs (or have reached a level 15 character). Lester, situated by the grazing cows will ask you to blow the entrance to the Hive open. He will give the Rune Bomb to do this. The entrance can be found across a new bridge below Farnham the Drunk. When you have completed his request he will reward you with the Auric which doubles your gold carrying capacity.

Griswold is aware of the auric amulet.   Any plate costing more than 170k would be impossible to buy without the auric amulet {you need 6 empty squares to place the plate}.  Griswold is now selling plates for more than 170k which means it's a good idea to hold on to the Auric Amulet to enable you to carry enough gold to purchase.

Defiler/Cathedral Map
Although this officially counts as two quests it can only really be considered as one.

The first part of this quest is to simply kill The Defiler who can be found on level four of the Hive, Once dead she will surrender the Cathedral Map.

If you return to town and speak to Gillian the barmaid she will give you the Grave Matters quest which counts as the second part.  From here you simply go up to the church yard and drop the map onto the new grave and this will reveal a doorway to the Demon Crypts.   The Defiler has some magic resistances and some magic immunities.

Cornerstone of the World
A utility more than a quest but it is officially a quest.  The Cornerstone of the World can be used to transfer items from one single player character to another. You will find a pile of gold on the Cornerstone at first, and you can place an object in its place.  If you then start a new game with a different character the item will be there. The Cornerstone of the World can be found in the Demon Crypts. Quest given by:

Weaken Na-Krul
This quest will remove Na-Krul's immunities, making him easier to defeat.  To do this you read the three books in the following order:

1. in spiritu sanctum - In holy spirit
2. praedictum otium - Declare peace
3. efficio obitus ut inimicus - Render death when hostile

Once you have done this the door to Na-Krul's chamber will open and he will appear.

If you do not want to weaken Na-Krul then simply pull the lever instead of reading the three books.  He'll come out guns a blazing.

Immunities/resistances change depending on whether you open the door with the lever or with the books. If you open it with the lever, Na-Krul is resistant to all on all levels of difficulty. Nothing magical does him any harm, except reflect which still does damage if he hits you. Na-krul is immune to stone curse. If you open the door with the books, I'm not sure what his immunities are, but he is NOT immune to fire on normal or nightmare difficulty. - Charles Cruden

Kill Na-Krul
You will get this quest by reading the seven journals scattered throughout the four levels of the Demon Crypts and the reconstructed note.  The reconstructed note comes from three separate torn notes which you will find on levels 1, 2 & 3 of the Demon Crypts.   On picking up the third the three torn notes will combine to form the reconstructed note.  Right click this to read.

Killing NA-Krill completes this quest.  His death produces an unidentified bow, staff and great sword and a book of Apocalypse.

In addition there are two 'easter egg' quests which you can activate by inserting this .txt file into your Hellfire directory.

Cow Quest
This quest replaces the Farmer's Orchard quest. Instead of Lester, you'll meet a cow who happens to be a complete nut. He'll give you the rune bomb, and ask you to retrieve his brown suit from his home, which is in the Festering Nest. Use the Rune Bomb to blow up the entrance to the Hive. You will find his grey suit somewhere on the third level of the Nest, and his brown suit somewhere on the fourth level. When the suit is returned, you will receive the Bovine Plate as your reward.

When you give him his brown suit he gives you the Bovine Plate.  The Grey Suit has no stats.

You can read a full transcript of what the cow has to say courtesy of Riona Yamamoto here.
