Keeping an eye on what’s been changed and what’s about to be fixed:

[UPCOMING HOTFIXES]

Flesh of Nar Gulle no longer drops loot.*

  • Shade of Nar Gulle still appropriately drops loot when defeated.*
  • [LIVE HOTFIXES]
    General:

  • Shadow Vermin that spawn during the Iskatu encounter will no longer provide experience, consistent with those spawned during the first phase.*
  • “Key Warden” labeled public games are now closed to new players who attempt to join after the Keywarden in the Act has been killed.
  • Resolved an issue where some UTF-8 characters would not display properly in a Clan’s Message of the Day.
  • The experience bonus for completing a quest the first time and the first time after hitting the “Reset Quests” button has been increased.
  • The rewards for repeatedly completing the same quest (without utilizing the “Reset Quests” button) have been reduced. (This means much less EXP and zero gold.)
  • Increased the frequency of Cursed Chest spawns in areas where they were not previously spawning.
  • Reduced the frequency of Cursed Chest spawns in areas where they were spawning too frequently.
  • Followers and Heroes no longer play their “Level Up” voice over upon receiving experience.
  • Resolved a crash that can occur if too many projectiles are caught in a Missile Dampening affix
  • Reduced the frequency of certain monster Meteor spells
  • Fixed an issue that prevented players from selling items that were equipped on their character prior to the 2.0.1 update.
  • Reduced the amount of experience granted by rescuing Caldeum Refugees.
  • Reduced the amount of experience granted by subsequent completions of the quest associated with killing Mira Eamon.
  • The game should once again automatically log you out after extended idling.
  • Reduced the frequency of chest spawns in areas that were previously a little too generous.
  • Barbarian

  • Threatening Shout – Grim Harvest: Will no longer generate treasure on monsters that are not intended to generate treasure.*
  • You see a couple of tools they used to fix, or at least reduce the value of the Mira Eamon EXP farming, and to make some other easily-repeated quests less of an exploit as well.

    1. Argh, forced logouts on extended idling.

I get why, it just makes me sad. I was enjoying the whole not-being-kicked-out-if-I-have-to-take-a-long-phone-call-and-forget-to-wiggle-my-mouse thing.

      • Why, that’s a very lengthy phone call… Last time I checked the time it takes to kick you out is 30 minutes… And seriously, if you need to afk for more than that there’s no point in you clogging up their servers anyway.

        • Yeah, I’m not really complaining except for my own selfish reasons. I fully agree that I should be kicked, I was just enjoying NOT being kicked.

I have a job where I can be called away at any time, and it’s usually for an hour or so when it happens. Usually I remember to wiggle the mouse occasionally if logged in to D3, but sometimes I’m too engaged or just plain forget.

    2. “The rewards for repeatedly completing the same quest (without utilizing the “Reset Quests” button) have been reduced. (This means much less EXP and zero gold.)”

That is just stupid. I liked to replay Act 1 from Shattered crown all the way to Butcher. But now I get no gold and lesser XP?
Screw that.Good thing RoS and Adventure mode is right around the corner, Bounties and Rifts will be way to go, no more “questing”.

      • I haven’t tested it, but playing today I didn’t notice any less exp for quests skipping around to do most of Act 1. I think their intention was to nerf exp for people farming the same quest repeatedly, but if you’re doing multiple quests each game than probably no real change?

    3. Someone was bragging about Iskatu in clan chat last night, and we warned him to shut his yap, b/c Blizz reads chat transcripts. Loose lips sink ships!

      • While I suppose you’re probably right about them reading chat transcripts (I guess?), Blizzard undeniably has ways of monitoring this kind of thing without having to resort to reading player chat to figure it out. Use some common sense lol

      • So you rather wanna keep that exploit and do not want Blizzard fixing it … yeah, way to go to keep the “ship floating” …

    4. Now they need to fix the rock giants in act2 in kulles archives to not one shot oneself when they reflect projectiles

    5. With a big reward I’ve started to play each act from the start (all almost). Now it will be once again old start the last quest and go backward only the most valuable locations… :/

    6. AS usual Blizz, you can’t stomach fun for your customers. For the first time in along time I wanted to do quests and go through an Act. The rewards were good in xp and gold and the whole experience just fun. WOW what a surprise. Yeah I see stupid people exploiting stuff even in INC clan but only just a few people and most of us just enjoying everything.Should have know that would not last and it only took a week and puff back to killing things randomly in a route with no story etc or quest.
Mark my words it will not take but a few weeks and the improvements that have been long awaited and begged for won’t last either. STUPID DROPS incoming.I am starting to give up and just not give a flying $#@! anymore.

      • If the whole experience was fun, why does the XP and gold matter?

        • For the same reason you play the game. Reward. If your question was apropos then why even pick up gear or improve anything you use and wear? I had a good time playing so let me run right past that Tal Rasha etc. What makes the game fun is fun and reward both together. If you take the reward away then some of the fun goes with it.

          • Meh. That might be the case for you, but I don’t really care about “reward.” I pretty much only care about the gameplay, and given that the gameplay is the same regardless of how much XP and gold you get, I don’t think that it’s that big of a deal. It’s not like having a few more Paragon points allows you to hop difficulties.

I guess I’m just saying, I don’t see how rewards that have no effect on gameplay or anything other than making numbers go up are really that big of a deal. If you had fun with numbers going up, you should have just as much fun without the numbers changing, because they’re just numbers, right?

      • I don’t understand your complaint. They’ve actually made “do[ing] quests and go[ing] through an Act” more rewarding, provided you don’t mind doing all four acts.

And how can you complain about having to go back to “killing things randomly in a route” when they’ve nerfed that just as much as repeatedly clearing the same act? It may be worse than it was before, but the rewards are still the same relative to each other. Is going through the same act or selection of acts that important to you? Is there one you’re desperate to avoid at all costs?

And if you’re making any effort to play the game and not just rush to quest completion points, the vast bulk of your rewards come from killing the monsters anyway.

    7. QUOTE

So you rather wanna keep that exploit and do not want Blizzard fixing it ... yeah, way to go to keep the "ship floating" ...

I don’t see what’s exploitive about it. You kill things and take their XP. They give no drops, unlike most enemies. It isn’t as if you’re bugging out the mobs or getting more xp than you should or anything.

      • “Shadow Vermin that spawn during the Iskatu encounter will no longer provide experience, consistent with those spawned during the first phase.”

That was bug. Vermins are not intended to grant exp at Iskatu fight. In first phase they don’t grant exp.
