Diablo 3 2.0.1 PTR access problemsPosted 12 Dec 2013 by
With the news of the Diablo 3 2.0.1 PTR opening earlier for one and all, players have been dashing to get their PTR accounts up and running and trying tpo access the PTR in the launcher.
There are problems however as the button to create a PTR account on Diablo 3 BattleNet account page does not actually exist. Blizzard commented:
It is thought that if you already have an account set up this button will not show. I have tested this after removing a previous PTR install and the button is indeed missing. An additional note from Blizard read:
- Make sure you’re double-clicking on your D3 game license in Account Management and not just highlighting it or just clicking it once.
- In order to access the PTR, you must use the Battle.net desktop app. The previous PTR client will not work and cannot be used to access the Patch 2.0.1 PTR.
Having already removed the old PTR files from the system here, the option in the launcher is still not available so there is a problem with this.
Thanks for all the reports regarding character copy issues! We’re tracking that issue here.
Thanks for the reports! Are you folks being directed to this link whenever attempting to use the PTR Copy feature?
That last link is dead right now unfortunately but Blizzard are also working on that.
PTR Character Copy Workaround
There is currently an issue with the PTR character copy banner that is causing it to be obscured by other UI elements on the Diablo III PTR client home screen.
While we do not have an ETA for a fix for this, we have identified two viable workarounds for this issue. Performing either of these sets of actions will cause the “upgrade” banner to be replaced with a PTR character copy banner:
- Exiting and then re-entering both the Battle.net Desktop App and Diablo III PTR game client
- Entering a game and then exiting back to the home screen.
We are currently working on getting a more convenient solution in place, but for now these are viable workarounds and should allow you to get your existing characters copied to the PTR.
Please try restarting your Battle.net desktop app, navigating to the Diablo III page using the left-hand side menu, and then clicking on the drop-down selector above the Play/Install button. You should now see an option that says PTR: Diablo III. Click this option; the PTR data should immediately begin downloading.
This is what you should see. If not, the problem is not resolved for you.
We are aware of and currently investigating two issues where players are having trouble accessing the 2.0.1 PTR:
Issue #1: After creating a PTR account in your Battle.net Account settings, the download link for the PTR displays a page indicating there is no download available.
Workaround: In order to access the PTR, you’ll need to download the Battle.net desktop app. While a link may not be available on the download page, you can still download the Battle.net desktop app directly from this page after you’ve created a PTR account. (Note: If you’ve participated in any previous Diablo III PTR, the “Create PTR account” button may not appear. This is because you’ve already created a PTR account.)
Issue #2: When logging into the Battle.net desktop application, the “Beta: Reaper of Souls” option in the drop-down menu above the “Play” button is not available.
Workaround: None available at this time.
We don’t currently have additional details or an ETA for when these issues will be resolved, but they remain a priority for our teams and we will update this thread as more information becomes available.
Thank you for your patience and understanding while we work to resolve these issues as soon as possible.
Update: #1 Blizzard are apparently also trying to track issues via this thread on BattleNet.
